Questions:

1) if cops knock on your door asking you to evacuate your home, do you have to comply?

2) if the house is empty and no one answers the door, can cops break in to make sure the house is empty?

You best ignore the door and wait it out.

I like you!

When the doorbell rings, it is an invitation to answer it.
You are not a dog, it is not a command. Just an invitation.
You are not in church, you are at home. No guilt.

I'm not sure that 'Ignore The Door' really applies here. I would view a credible threat of being blown up as a little more than the sort of nuisance characterized by, say, door-to-door solicitors.

Yes, I am serious.

I'm interested in knowing what my options are.

Seems your options might be possibly dead or injured on the one hand or very much alive by complying.

re#2, yes....years ago, my fathers car broke down at his cottage and he left it there....a neighbor got concerned that they hadn't seen him, so called the police....the police broke the door down, and of course he wasn't there....but the police had to pay for repairs to the door.
Things may have changed since then....police may be less likely to break in today.

Re #1, it's foolish not to comply, but I don't think you can be forced out....lots of ppl stayed in new Orleans when Katrina hit, in spite of evacuation orders.

That's what I think too. They cannot force you out.

But in Katrina it was different, an evacuation order is given and how are you going to enforce it?

It's not a street, it's a big city.
