View Full Version : Home Dollarama: 3M Command Adhesive Hooks and Refills for $2

I try not to drill holes in my walls when I can avoid it so I hang a bunch of stuff using 3M Command Adhesive and so far nothing has given way and it has been easy to take off when I needed to.

I was really happy to see that Dollarama carries it now, perhaps they have for a long time but it's the first time I've noticed it. I was at the Yonge and Sheppard location in Toronto and for $2 you could get a pack of 6 smaller hooks, 2 larger hooks, or a refill pack of 6 reusable glue backs. Other stores sell it for at least twice as much last time I bought them.

Here's a video if you've never used used it before:

Awesome! I'll have to check out my neighbourhood Dollarama. I love Command hooks.

I used these at my previous condo and they held fairly heavy photo frames for 5 years until I moved. They came right off without any damage so no patching and painting afterwards.

Surprisingly I've never seen these before. Judging by the video, gonna pick up a pack for sure.

Selection varies store by store, be sure to check out the bathroom crap isle (far wall) as well as the hardware isle for them.

They had these for a few years now but I'm seeing them less and less. I find Dollarama is replacing a lot of their premium 3M products with cheaper versions ie. Scotch-Brite 2-pack sponge and scrubber. Thanks OP, will go hunting again for these.

Thanks OP! A little off topic here... I always wonder if these work fine on a not_so_smooth wall surface? Any input?

Is the adhesive reusable?

Is the adhesive reusable?

No, but you can buy the adhesive strips separately (so you can re-use the hooks themselves).

These have never come off easy for me. Pulling the tab does nothing.

If you've never used or heard of these things before, they are fantastic!
I use the ones that can hold up to 3 pounds and have two speakers hanging off them(was going to get speaker stands but this was way cheaper. They work amazingly well. I was a skeptic about them coming off clean until the first time I removed one (to change where I wanted it).
Just press one hand against the hook/plastic part and use the other hand to pull the adhesive strip straight down(not towards you!) and it will pop right off CLEAN. Doesn't even leave any residue. I've wanted more of these but they are usually pretty expensive. Now Dollarama carries them? Going to stock up!

Also you have to pull the strip pretty slowly, if you yank it then it will probably break.

I was just about to ask if these could hold speakers. This post was very informative. Thanks! It will be a pain trying to find this in Dollarama. What isle / section should this be in?

Found them in the kitchen/washroom supplies which is usually against the wall, was all displayed in a green box hanging near the end of the isle. They had big white hook, 2 medium hooks, 6 small hooks, 6 small clear hooks, 9 piece adhesive, all for $2 except the 8 piece adhesive for $1.

If your TV weighs 5-10 pounds yes (most of them are rated for this weight). I doubt your TV is that light.

I went to the Scarborough Town Centre Dollarama and checked both the bathroom and hardware aisles but did not find them. I even asked 2 people who were restocking the shelves and they said that they don't carry the 3M adhesive hooks. If someone finds them at a Scarborough/Toronto store, please post. Thanks.

Does it say on the packaging the maximum weight it can support? If it can support a 10 pound item, I find that very impressive for a sticky.

I'll need to probably head up there.
Parents always complain about using nails maybe using this to hang up pictures might be a good idea.

I bought these a while ago. What I didn't like was that the hooks were quite small. I need to be extra careful when I hang stuff or sometimes it just slides right off, especially with thick clothing.

While I know there are many reviews saying it comes off easily with no residue or marks, I'm still skeptical and knowing my luck it will take the paint with the hook.

Seem to be scattered around the stores.

I found some w/the over the door hanging hooks section and at the end of the kitchen/cleaning supply aisle on their own green boxed off shelf.
Bought a couple of each sizes for hanging keys/belts/clothes.

Thanks OP.

Do they have the Command strips that don't come with a plastic hook, but the strips have what appears to be velcro on both sides? Those are great for hanging light pictures

Do they sell the picture frame hanging version as well or are they strictly the hooks only? I absolutely love command strips for hanging if possible. Saves me the hassle of having to patch the drywall at a later time.
