I'm interested in buying a router and heard great things about this one. For a while I've been following its price on amazon and rarely saw it go for under $90. Plus I think it has a $10 cash rebate.
Should I bite?

Very true, MIR does not specify specific retailers.

I have this router since Jan 2011. Works good so far . I flashed to dd-wrt (make sure newer version, not default one it gives when search database). Do some research before flashing to make sure you're doing it correctly.
Have it sitting on top of antec300 case 140mm fan to keep cool.
This price looks to be the best lately. It was lower on black friday (or boxing day?) for like $75 freeship or something at newegg. But that was long time ago. If needing a higher end router (not some super cheap one), then this works good. Only downside is no dual band 5ghz if you need it.

It's been $75 last year on Amazon. This is the lowest price since then http://ca.lightningdrops.com/product/B00387G6R8 Not a bad deal but not hot. Try getting one of the Linksys ones, lots of good deals recently on refurbed units too.

This was my intentions as well - to flash it with dd-wrt or tomato. It seems to be very stable with it and at it's price range has the best specs out of all routers I have seen. I know it was $75 before but that seems to happen quite rarely, and with my crappy D‑Link‑2640T, I'm starting to get impatient.

Can't you put DD WRT on your D-Link now?

I made a mistake, I actually have the DI-524 and it doesn't support it. Most routers don't support custom firmware.

If you are technical enough to flash with DD WRT you can get away with a much cheaper router and just changing the firm ware. It really depends on how much you want to spend and how long you're willing to wait for a deal. If you just want something good now then this is ok but if you're willing to wait I'm sure you can find a much better deal.

Rock solid router. Don't know if the deal is hot.

It's a great router when paired with 3rd party firmware such as Tomato. It doesn't have dual band support though which may or may not be important for some of you.

Considering that 802.11ac technology is coming out, I would expect that 802.11n routers would drop in price in the next few months.

Decent price. I got mine back in Nov our December for around this price, minus $10 MIR.
Throw tomato on, and great solid router.

I have Tomato on this router as well. But any easy way to put the BT utility into it, so I can use for bit torrent download? thanks

You can also use https://code.google.com/p/wl500g/ firmware, which is based on ASUS firmware.

Shibbys build of Tomato has a bittorrent client (Transmission) built into it.

Thanks for the link. They just released today?
Looks like they release new version every couple months, based upon a quick scroll of main page. So yes get the one that was released today. See changelog for details. Newest version of transmission, which would be helpful since you were looking for dedicated torrent program.

Excellent and very stable router after flashing with Tomato USB. I have 2 HDD's connected to the USB ports which I use a lot. Not very fast but good enough for sharing 720p content over the network. The only complaint: it does not provide the same wireless coverage as the Asus WL-520gU which it replaced. The good side: the anntenae can be replaced with higher gain ones (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=105&cp_id=10521&cs_id=1052105&p_id=8748&seq=1&format=2). Also this tool (http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/?utm_expid=190328-1&utm_referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.ca%2Furl%3Fsa %3Dt%26rct%3Dj%26q%3Dinssider%26source%3Dweb%26cd% 3D1%26sqi%3D2%26ved%3D0CFAQFjAA%26url%3Dhttp%253A% 252F%252Fwww.metageek.net%252Fproducts%252Finsside r%252F%26ei%3DYQYCUP-rA4nDrQGC1ICyDA%26usg%3DAFQjCNGFqYFjIImVp8ZAVgD5EC Vjr_yxug)can help you avoid interference with neighbours routers thus improving performance.
