Well, I've been looking for the longest time for a mint Technics 1200 MK2 in silver.
Finally someone emailed me last week and said they just got one for sale.
The story goes, the guy who sold it to me works for a local electronics store.
He got the turntable from a local Church, which they didnt need any longer.
The table hasnt been hardly used - I guess they only used it for special occasions or on any given Sunday.. LoL.
Anyways, from the serial number, it looks to be made in 1986.
Like I said this thing is near mint ! I would rank it a 9/10. It has some very minot scratches on the dust cover probably from wiping dust off of it. The table has no nicks anywhere !
It came with an old skool Stanton 500 MKII cartridge.

Anyways, on to some pics. ;-)

Well I was having a bloody intermittent popping noise. I just finished listening to an entire album and theres no more popping noise. I readjusted/tightened the ground, cleaned the cartridge stylus and moved the wires on the cartridge around as well. I think they were a bit loose.

Old skool Heart now sounds as it should, even on an ancient crappy Stanton 500 MKII cart !

Reminds me of my old Radio Shack RD-8100 which I got back in the 70s when I won a contest for $1,000 in RS gear. I hardly ever used the thing. Still sitting here in a corner of my new house. I had aspirations of putting the equipment back together again but it's worn off. Still seeking that elusive Denon direct drive turntable and nice reel to reel that is fixable. A bud of mine got a mint Pioneer reel to reel from a neighbor whose husband had bought it but hardly ever used it. It sounds real nice...

Hey now, easy on the Stanton 500's! My cartridge of choice. Actually, the 680's are.. but I spent a good 5 years using those 500's. They did well for me. :D

Again, beautiful gear man. Well done. Let me know if you want a Vestax mixer to go with it ;)

^ :P lol worth a shot, Tech 1200's and Vestax PMC-05's are like peanut butter and jelly.

If you're interested in a vinyl swap hit me up, I have crates and crates of vinyl going back to the mid-70's. Mixed genre's. Most are still in excellent condition. I used to use them for sampling and live mashups when hiphop was in it's prime.

So turns out I only have 4 crates in my apt, 3 of which are old school jungle/drum n bass or hiphop. At least 6 crates are sitting in my storage locker so hopefully this weekend I'll take those pics for you.

Of the 1 crate of oldies/old school house that I have here, there are a few gems in there. As you can see in the last pic I still haven't gone through them all. Just took out a stack and snapped some pics. Sorry for the poor quality it's pretty dark in my apt.

Nice! Do you know what kind of mixer they use?

Any love for Vestax decks in here? I can't be the only one who uses them.. ='[

@Robb I just took a bunch more pics, will upload them when I'm done uploading the 3 youtube vids I have in queue. I have awful upload speeds here..

btw I made those pics public for any other RFD'ers who may want some vinyl. I won't charge anyone anything for them, but try to be fair and not snag my entire collection.

All of these awesome pics certainly brings me back in time.

Makes me sort of regret selling my Bryston 1B pre, 2B power, Dynalab 101 tuner, and Rega 300 tt. On the bright side, I got a lot more than I thought I would :)

Denon used to be the undisputed leader in rack mounted CD mixers. I used to have the DN2000F's (upgraded from the Gemini CD210's). I'm also unsure if they've maintained the quality, though their headphones still live up to their reputation.

Roland too is excellent, one of my friends had a memory bank/beat machine that we used to make good use of. Good times.

Are these rare now? I remember back in my raver days that every aspiring DJ had a pair. My ex still has a pair with probably 400 vinyls that I suspect are just collecting dust.

They are not rare... but this is an early model, rare in mint condition.
Most of the early production models didnt stand a chance because DJ's used and abused them !
There are alot out there, but not exactly in nice shape.
Panasonic discontinued these in 2010.

Wow, crazy to see an SL1200 with the counter-balance only at 1.5g. Usually, some moron turns it up to some insanely high setting. I recall in one record store, the weight was installed backwards, so that the numbers were facing the back, and turned all the way in. The bottom of the cartridge (think they were 680s) was literally scraping the vinyl. Needless to say, I avoided buying any records from them that weren't sealed or that I didn't special order.

I just bought 3 rare NOS Stanton D50e MKII styli for my Stanton 500 MKII cartridge.
I read that these are the best ellipticals for Stanton 500 MKII carts and extremely rare nowadays.
I was looking to replace my Stanton 500 MKII cartridge with something newer, but I've read that these old skool Stanton 500 carts are pretty nice sounding as they are ! Replacing the spherical stylus it has with an elliptical will make my 500 near 'audiophile' quality.

Specs look decent on these stylus as well.

Best place to pick up a turntable is thrift stores. I managed to pick up a Systemdek turntable with a Grace arm and a Grado cartridge (stylus was in perfect condition) for $14.99

I have around 50 hours play on it, so its broken in.
The detail on this with Brubeck's Time out is bliss !

try moving the hpm speakers farther apart they are not near-field monitors .and your cartage looks like it is not sitting right in the head shell.

No room to spread out the speakers. This will do for now.
