Now some Locations have it for $12 or $13 Don"t rely on the online stock ,it's often wrong .Ask by Store SKU: 1000735182 .My local store showed no stock and had 12 up on a skid , hiding .
Also , be aware that they mix up the boxes , meaning the WD3050 ( not the $13 model ) and the WD3053 ( the one @ $13) so you have to check all boxes cuz they are both same size and they mixed them up . Model number is clearly marked WD3053 and is clearly marked in front " with bonus car detail acc".
So if you went around and found stock , tell others .
Some were successful price matching .

Went to two HD (brampton and woodbridge) they both had several in stock, but open box returns by customers and were marked down as such. Didn't find one BNIB, but now am considering not buying because I'm not sure why so many would have been bought and returned.
Can anyone speak to the quality of this vac? Even at $30 is it worth the purchase or should I put that money towards a bigger, better vac.
Thanks.

HD at Hwy 7 + Woodbine had 3 units. I got one. ($49.99)
Put it to work tonight cleaning up the basement after renos. Great little unit. It has a lot of power.
The power cord and hose wrap on the handle, so it can be stored/carried as one unit. (The hose should be plugged into itself to form a circle firs, then put in its storage slot.) The basic hose accessory has a spot on the body, and we can slide the crevice wand between the power cord loops. So we have everything in one relatively small portable unit.
I do wish the 10' powercord was a 12' or 15' instead. (I may look closer to see if I can replace the cord on it.).
I love the size/portability - it is like a knapsack.

I paid the full $70 (69.99 IIRC) for this a while back .. I couldn't wait for a sale I needed it then and there. Worth it. I love this thing. Use it far more often than my big craftsman. For 30 it's a steal. $50 is a good deal too.
Cord wraps around handle. Hose end plugs into the side so it packs up into a pretty neat package, not tiny and perfect but neat enough.
Very powerful.

Bought this at HD in Windemere Edmonton, they had about 4 left. I think that's all for Edmonton. Was able to price match $40 as that's how much South Commons was selling it for...wouldn't do the Quebec price match..too far???
Works great, used it on my car. Agree with the other poster. Very powerful motor. How many hours of use do you usually replace these filters? I saw them go for $40 each!!

I was thinking of just using another vacuum to clean the filter every now and then.
I don't know what happens to these filters when you start cleaning water spills. (Or are you suppose to remove filter when vacuuming water?)
This should be the filter ... $23.

I showed up at the Vaughan HD and found 3 or 4 on the floor @ $49.99.
Brought it over to the service desk and told them about it being $30 at another store in Whitby.
The gentlemen phoned one Whitby store and they said it was $39.99, phoned another and couldn't get anyone to talk to.
Then he said there was someone else that came into the store earlier that showed him a printout of it being $29.99 and said he'd just do the same for me.

If I take a print out of a screenshot showing it listed at $30 online in whitby will they price match at a local store?

Jul 17th, 2012, 01:30 PM
My local home depot says they don't have to match any pricing from any other store as "it's the individual HD store's prerogative to sell below what the item scans in as" and the item scanned in at $50 at my local HD when I swear it was $40 on the website the hour before I left. I should've printed it but I didn't think the price would go up up mid-day.
Manager at my HD gave me a hard time even though I told him many other HD's were selling and scanning at lower prices...
bunch of bait and switch scammers I say...
My local HD has been nothing but good with their 'price match' policy in my past purchases and it's sad to see how it's changing....
Edit: what a f'ing joke... So I called customer care to complain about all the price discrepancies and explained the situation. the CSR calls the manager of my local HD store and suddenly the manager changes his tune and says he'll price match the whitby location. What a bunch of ***** garbage and a waste of my time to have to go back. Now I feel like a whiny little bastard... hopefully they'll honor the price when I walk in there later today. This whole "manager's discretion" business with price matching other stores is such a load of crock. One shouldn't have to stoop to these games...
Edit2: got it for $30. But only after they thought I was trying to PM down to $40 and I had to re-explain that it's $30 at Whitby. My faith in HD is restored.

This is a great little unit for $50. The included accessories (3) are worth like $10 each. The flexible crevice tool is really useful.
The unit is normally $70 without the 3 accessories. Add $10 for the crevice tool and we are at $80.
There are not too many portable units of this power and compact SIZE.
If one is looking for a portable shop vac. I would suggest getting it even at $50 (promo package/price). (Obviously $30 is like a steal.)

Thanks OP for the good deal. This is exactly what I needed for my small place (I passed on the larger Rigid that was on clearance for $80 posted here on RFD a few weeks ago -- needed more compact!)
Just picked up the WD3053 unit (the one on clearance, with the automotive attachments) at the Etobicoke South HD#7011. Near 10PM closing time on Tuesday night I saw at least three more boxes of the clearance unit WD3053 mixed in with the stack of normal WD3050 units (the version without automotive accessories that is regularly priced at $70.) Make sure you grab the correct box!
WD3053 scans at $49.99 but had no issues getting the friendly girl at Special Services to mark it down to $30 when I was showing her the cheaper pricing for various other stores on the HD mobile site (even though the stores pricing at $30 listed 0 stock.)

I went to-nite to the HD in Anjou, Montreal. They had a total of 17 in stock which were placed very high on the shelves. It scanned at $40, but I told the CSR that several other stores were selling them at $30. Even though there was no more stock at L' Acadie, I think with the large inventory at Anjou they are happy even to sell them at $30.

I asked the Burnaby BC store to match the $30 price from the Laval, QC store and the manager said they wouldn't match prices from 'out of region'. I picked one up anyway for $49.95 in case I'm able to score a price match/adjustment later.
I just found the $30 price on the website at the Chilliwack and Courtenay BC stores so I'll take a printout to the store with my receipt and try for an adjustment.
FYI to anyone in GVR who doesn't want to bother trying to get a price match. The Surrey (Whalley), Vancouver (Cambie), and Surrey/White Rock stores show prices of $40.

Quite a few left at the Sherway HD. Had a slight problem with the PM as the cashier said we don't match the price on the net ( this after the CSR told me that it would not be a problem... manager said he would do this but only this time...so YMMV). Haven't had time to try it out yet but I'm hoping for good results.
Haven't picked up the extra filters, but previous poster mentioned that bags are optional. Here are the compatible model numbers:

I did as well, no price match needed. It rang up as $13 at the register. They have 20+ in stock.
ETA: I should mention they were marked as regular price on the shelf, hence all of the stock.

Just got back from London Fanshawe Park Road location. Store stock said four online, there were at least three there, and I grabbed one. Had the cashier scan it first, and came up at $13! She was throttled, even called the guy from the tools department over.
Also, bring model number with you. They had the WD3050 and WD3053 models mixed together (WD3053 is what you want) and you had to dig through the stock they had in order to find one.
Thanks OP!

Be aware that they mix up the boxes , meaning the WD3050 ( not the $13 model ) and the WD3053 ( the one u want ) so you have to check all boxes cuz they are both same size and they mixed them up . Model number is clearly marked WD3053 and is clearly marked in front " with bonus car detail acc.

18v wet/dry vacs suck, I have the DeWalt one ($170) and you only get about 5-7 minutes of good suction power and then your out of luck. I found this vacuum to have much more power and you can use it for as long as you want, the only thing you loose is the size vs a 18v vac but you can pick up more with the Ridgid.

meant for different uses really. I wanted a battery powered one for quick pick up jobs, and I have four Ryobi 18V batteries anyways, so running out of juice isn't really a problem as I'll have three ready while another is charging.
But I agree, the Rigid is great. Love the size and find I'm using it more for smaller jobs when I don't want to lug out the 45L Rigid vac.

I'm starting to think that the web inventory zeros out everything when it goes below 3 units. Was looking for stuff a while back and the clerk in-store mentioned that a few places that show inventory of 3 or less, but the website showed zero.

na, I had plenty of times for different items where it showed 1-2 in stock, and it matched what was in store. Sometimes it doesn't take into account the display model though. For this vacuum specifically, it showed five in stock back when the sale started. When I went to the store, they had the five, plus the display model, so technically six, but the online system didn't count it, although the actual store stock showed six.

Wd3035 is no longer on the hd website but the sale is defiantly still on if you can find it. Mixed up with the wd 3050

Figured out this past weekend any of the 'special buy' shop vacs are the ones on clearance.
The $10 wd675 one I picked up and posted about in june was this case same with the wd3053 model. I found a 'special buy' wd0975 on friday night in lloydminster, and decided to scan it - $13 bucks.
So if you see a special buy shop vac box in the rigid line at home depot, take it to the self checkouts and scan it, you will be happy.
Lloydminster also had 2 higher end units that also covert to a yard leaf blower up on the top racks with the normal shop vacs. Price is 59.99, don't remember the model number but it was 75 percent off regular price.

Somedoby re-selling it on Kijiji Montreal for $70. Says it was retailing at $100 ... really!

Not just rigid vacuums, but most special buy items are like that, since they're usually specials for a certain time period, and then HD wants to clear them out afterwards.
Same thing for their tools.

Was walking through the Home Depot today since I had the day off and to my surprise, there was a WD3053 sitting there, box was a lil mangled but it was taped up. I should of known right then. Bought it and 20 mins later got home and opened it up to check to make sure everything was inside, pull out the vaccum and open it up only to find out, it was used by somebody and then returned. Filter was dirty as heck and tons of rocks in the bottom. So to anyone in EDM Clareview Home Depot, if you see a WD3053, open the box first to make sure. The return lady might just re-box it up and sell it again?
Thanks alot to whoever used it and returned it again.

Wasn't me. Lol. Always check an open box before leaving the store. I would have asked them to swap it with a wd3050 for you.
In any case, its a powerful vacuum so the filter is going to get dirty fast. 2 minutes with a compressor and a blower attachment and it would look like new again.
