Hey I was hoping someone could give me advice on how to approach this situation.

It seems that my original deposit wasn't applied anywhere in the final bill of sale. Or in this particular case the balance owing to close the lease agreement and bring the car home.

I still have the original purchase agreement that shows the deposit was placed and also the receipt for the deposit.

I know it was dumb of me not to clarify that we had put money down in the beginning to make sure that it was applied somewhere but the sales guy had to rework the agreement due to previous errors and I thought that it would have been included in the final bill. Basically, there was quite a bit of confusion on that day but now that I've had time to sit down and look at the numbers much more clearly it's definitely obvious that there's no original deposit anywhere in the final bill of sale.

I do trust this dealer since they have been extremely helpful and provided excellent service. I'm not too worried that they will try to "scam" anyway they can to keep the deposit. Can this be as simple as them refunding the deposit back to my credit card since it wasn't applied anywhere? Most likely i'll have to jump through some hoops and present paperwork to clarify that I am owed the deposit. But I'm hoping that because it's a recent sale they won't give me too much trouble.

Thoughts/comments? Thanks a lot!

Did you try contacting the dealership with your documents? I would try that first. Call the manager, explain the situation, and setup an appointment.

Btw spoon fed much?

Yea... I deserve that. I realize I was a dumbass the first time around so I'm taking some steps to ensure I don't make another stupid simple screw up. I was kicking myself all night after I reviewed the bill of sale before I went to bed.

I'm definitely going to contact them and set up an appointment very soon.
It's just that there's a recent grad rebate i'm waiting for them to send in before i hit them with this. I'd like to try to and focus on one thing at a time to keep things simple. They should be sending the rebate request to head office today. Then midweek i will contact them to sit down and go through paperwork.

If they indeed did not include it in the final due on delivery, and you over paid they have no reason to keep your money. Could of been just an honest mistake, call your sales person up to confirm and if they indeed forgot and you over paid you can go get the difference back at the dealership. That would be the first thing I would recommend.

Some dealers, instead of applying the deposit to the price of the car, simply have a practice of refunding the money to you. It could have been a mistake and they just forgot to do that.

This happened to me last week when I bought a civic. I put down $5000. When I picked up the car it showed on the new paperwork that I put $5k down so all was well
