Bowmanville selected as next 'Million Dollar Neighbourhood'

BOWMANVILLE, ONT. - The town of Bowmanville has been chosen as the setting for the second season of 'Million Dollar Neighbourhood' which is broadcast on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

The TV series follows the trials of 100 families in a community as they attempt to raise their collective net worth by $1 million in just 10 weeks. Season One saw the town of Aldergrove, B.C. reach their million dollar goal.

Bowmanville is the largest community in the Municipality of Clarington, which is just east of Toronto. The town came out in force on June 5 at the Bowmanville High School when the show's production company scheduled a town hall meeting.

In each episode, neighbours take on a community challenge and an individual challenge. Residents need to dig deep, downsize, earn, barter, share, swap, scrimp, save and collaborate with their neighbours to meet the goal.

Season 2 goes into production in July and is scheduled to launch January 2013.
