Hi guys, I looked online for some tips on pricing a used 2004 jetta sedan (gasoline) and most sites are listing ~3500 for the average jetta with close to 300,000km. The jetta is driveable and passed NB inspection (with about $800 of work on brake pads, tire bearings etc) but has quite a few dents and dings (a fairly big one on the roof), the AC doesn't work, and the engine light is on (but it has passed inspection for the entire time I've had it, as the mechanic says nothing is wrong - maybe the light is broken apparently?!). The cigarette lighter plug doesn't work. It will need new snow tires this winter. It runs fine, doesn't stall and is automatic with a moonroof and power windows/locks, heated seats, cruise control and a single CD player.

If I were to sell it, what should I ask? Alternatively, would it be better to sell to a scrapyard? I'm located in NB. Thanks in advance for the help!

Hey! thanks for the reply. I'm actually selling the car, and looking for a fair price to list it. :)

2.0 is slow and not great on gas mileage but it's a tried and true engine. Don't knock it

2.0 is a solid engine. slow, but solid so it has value....i own one so i know. 3500 is too high, especially considering the many "issues" you listed. in all honesty, if anyone gives you $1500-2000, take it and run. try selling it privately before you decide to simply sell to a scrapyard...there is always a young kid looking for his first car who should be willing to pay. good luck!
