My wife and I, 60ish, have about 5 days in Miami after a week each in the Caribbean and the Keys.
My wife wants to shop, but not mall stuff. She is a major foodie, as am I. South Beach seems to be the place I read about the most, but is it for us? Clubbing? I don't think so.....
A quiet place with a pool and easy walkability are important. Anyone have a suggestion about an agreeable place?
Price is not a major concern.

South Beach is more hip. Got a lot of restaurants on the strip/street by the beach. But the layout is not that good. From those restaurant you can't really see the beach/sea. OTOH, when you're in the Caribbeans and the Keys, you'll see a lot of beaches and ocean, so that might not be an issue.

The Sawgrass Mills Mall in Fort Lauderdale is huge. You can spend 2 days there and not go through every store. There are also a lot of decent hotels by the beaches or water channels in FLL. You can take water taxis there for cheap, and get around many stops.

Can visit the Everglades, ride the air boat, and see some alligators.

Can eat lots of sea food while there.

The Strip in South Beach is on Ocean Drive between 1st and maybe 6th street. But, Lincoln Road is a pedestrian only ith shopping restaurants, art places...we liked it better. Great restaurants and cafes here. Also you can drive to North Miami Beach which is a lot more quiet with restaurants and shops as well. Take a cruise on Biscayne Bay, go to Everglades...Miami is not just for young hip people...that happens after midnight!
