Hi guys, just picked up a Linksys E3000 on clearance at my local Staples in NS for $25+tax. There were a few left and also E1000 ($5) and E2000 ($20). I am upgrading from my old POS wrt120n which besides dropping signal and needing to be power cycled a lot is no longer tenable since I've refinished my basement and have moved my wired gear downstairs (signal on second floor is garbage).
Anyway, the signal seems much better already but since there are a few more eX000's at my Staples I might pick up another one to extend my signal even more upstairs. Is it possible to connect two e3000s wirelessly? I have a motorola wifi modem that my ISP provides, maybe it can do what I want?
I understand I need to flash the stock firmware to tomato or ddwrt? I was hoping someone could point me to whatever version of firmware they are running.
I'll do more research later this but for now maybe people who have done the due diligence already can give me some links/tips/terminology to help me out.
Thanks!

Yes I have a similar setup with an E2000 and a WRT320 but I'm using one as a client bridge and the other as my main router which speak to each other wirelessly.
You would have to flash one with DDWRT as I don't think tomato opens other options of the router. You might need to use repeater if I'm not mistaken in DDWRT on the second router.
I would love to get an E2000/3000 if it was possible but NS is a bit far from Montreal :(

Just curious which NS store you found these in?

So it is necessary to flash to 3rd party firmware to accomplish this? I've been searching and keep hearing about WDS, how is it different from setting up an accesspoint or repeater (what is repeating?)?

I picked two up from Brownlow Ave in Dartmouth but they are now OOS (I walk there on my work break so I had a look for you). I asked the cashier to check the other stores and she said there are two left at Gottigen Street. The E1000 and E2000 are still at Brownlow though.

OP, here is a dd-wrt link for how to bridge your two routers wirelessly. I have also included the router database to search out the firmware associated with your routers. When installing the firmware, make sure you install the a build designed for initial flash (usually mini build), 30-30-30 reset and then install the big build to give you full functionality. Always 30-30-30 reset between flashes and after final flash.

Is it necessary to do this 30-30-30 thing for Toastman or other Tomato Mods?

No personal experience with either. It only takes 90 seconds, do it religiously when doing changes on dd-wrt. I suggest you stick to that regimen for tomato as well.
