This is news to me. Apparently its a safety hazard for small children  Made me think of how chewing gum is banned in Singapore. Post any other wacky laws you know off the top of your head here :)

Reading the thread title, I had already suspected the choking hazard excuse for Kinder Eggs.

I'm guessing chewing gum is banned in Singapore because of the littering issue, which IMO is actually a reasonable ban .

More people are killed with other things than guns (even in the US) than with guns.

BAN KNIVES!

I think people are mainly just pointing out the hypocrisy of the US government for going after things that are so trivial.

And I'm sure lots of things kill more toddlers than Kinder Surprises. Off the top of my head I'd assume lots of other non-children aimed objects around the house are probably more responsible for child choking hazards than Kinder Surprise toys.

Incredibly ironic because just a few days ago, a 3 year old shot his father to death with a handgun in Indiana.

Yet banning handguns will never ever be on the radar in the States.

Not that banning handguns will help anyways. They're heavily restricted in Canada and yet we still have shootings all the time. Marijuana is banned and people still do it. The list goes on.

The ban is a general ban, not targeting religious groups. Of course the Jewish and Muslim community are making a big deal out of it. Rest of Germany doesn't really care.

1) Unwrap Kinder egg carefully.
2) Split chocolate shell in two carefully down the "melt" line.
3) Open up hard case, throw toy away.
4) Place $8k ring inside case.
5) Using a small pan or (clean!) soldering iron, melt the chocolate shell back together with hard case inside.
6) Carefully re-wrap the chocolate egg with the tin covering.
7) Gift to gf.
8) Win.

It may take multiple eggs/tries as this is trickier done than said.

Chewing gun - except nicotine gun - is banned in Singapore, because people spit it on the ground. Spitting is illegal I. Singapore, because of tuberculosis transmission via saliva.

I never knew Kinder Eggs were illegal. I find this highly amusing. I recently came back from a trip in Europe. My friend bought some Kinder Eggs in Austria. It would have been funny to see this in real life if we went to the US.

Wear gloves too so you don't have fingerprints on the chocolate and it's less "suspecious" when she opens it up.

giving go f*** a goat legally a whole new meaning, maybe the Arab spring would have never happened if the surrounding regions adopted similar laws which would have left the populace satisfied.

US allows baby walkers. Canada does not. So Canada deems something is dangerous to infants here but not the US. So not that strange, everyone has their own definition of dangerous.
