I work for one of the big 5 banks, and our department currently has an opening for a Programmer Analyst. We're looking for someone who has the following:
1. 2-3 years experience with ASP.NET (1.1/2.0/3.5/4.0) / .NET Framework / Visual Basic.NET or C#.NET
2. 2-3 years experience with SQL Server 2000 or newer
3. 3-4 years experience with web development (CSS/HTML/etc)
4. Some hardware and basic software knowledge.
5. Knowledge of software architecture.
6. Preferrably a degree in a computer related field.
Job is located in downtown Toronto. We're looking for someone who's a team player, good with people, and a good programmer. We've got a great office and a lot of young, fun people to work with - so ideally we want someone who likes the idea of "work hard, play hard".
If anybody is interested, fire me a resume via PM.

Will there be any chance for this role to pay 200k+ if the person stays there for 10 years +?

There's always a chance, technically. I mean, I can be seated at my desk and get hit by a meteorite - so technically, there's also a chance of being hit by a meteor, too.

Depends on the individual for both.

Yea same thing I just graduated from Seneca CPD in June, dont have much "work exp" with .NET / C# / ASP / SQL Server, but I've been fiddling around with it for 18 months from school courses and some stuff outside of school. I've got several years of HTML / CSS / Javascript exp, but Ill admit I still have plenty to learn. Can I email you a resume just incase?

Yes to both. New grads are welcome. Keep in mind that this position for a person that's green will be a junior programmer analyst position.

Hey Dan, I don't have a formal education in programming. But, I've built my own trading software before. 1st version was in QBASIC (yeah, old tech, I know). Then decided to migrate to C#. I could give you a screen shot of both applications, but I can't give you the code b/c it contains proprietary 'algorithms'.
Second, I've tried to build many failed dynamic PHP scripts using my own CSS and MYSQL. One website was done, but I could not get traffic, so I stopped/took it down. Another website, I half completed b/c I was terrible at Web Design (not having artistic talents). I was gonna launch a third website, but the idea kinda sucks after I've thought about it.
I have no knowledge of Javascript, btw. But I'm going to assume it can be quickly picked up?
Anyways, would I qualify for the job?

You are going to collect 10+ resumes from here...then select 1-3 candidates and forward their resume to HR? So, half of the resumes you get from RFD members will not be forwarded to HR (I assume)? Your purpose is to find the best candidate so you can get your referral bonus?

I don't think his intentions are for a referral bonus, I think he is doing it to genuinely help out here.

If you don't have a formal education in development, you'd need commensurate work experience to offset that. Do you have 5 years development experience in a real-world setting?

I can't go into specifics, but no, the referral bonus is not applicable.

@Dan: I'm currently exploring various career alternatives. But, I'm a afraid of committing myself for the long haul to something I may not like.
In short, I am looking for an opportunity to shadow various industries, much like how there are opportunities to shadow a physician for those interested in a career in medicine.
Anyways, since you appear to be in some kind of senior position, do you think you could offer me (or convince your boss) to let me volunteer at your work place for 1 month?
I would really appreciate the opportunity before I commit a large sum to paying for a college diploma...

Unfortunately, the position requires a full timer ASAP, so grads a year from now won't help.

Is this position open only to residents in Toronto or is there support if an applicant from the West Coast gets the position? I am also interested.
