My gf is turning 25 in a few weeks and one of the things i wanted to do for her was get her a 25 year old bottle of wine...any ideas where to get one? will the lcbo carry a bottle from that year or will it be a speciality store? Also, rough cost and recommended kind? preferably a red

I checked LCBO Vintages online and found nothing that old. But call them, at Summerhill for expert advice.
Your best bet may be a steakhouse with a good wine list. I checked Barberian's, and he has a 1987 Vega Sicilia, at $815. It is one of the most exclusive wines in the world, and should fit the bill with Barberian's aged steak. http://www.barberians.com/winelist.php?category=9

Hm, the Vintages Classics Catalogue (the quarterly version) used to have a page or two devoted to bottles of wine and spirits that matched up with various birthdays and anniversaries. Do they not do that anymore?

They are re-organizing and going online, but apparently, 'coming soon'.
ed. I found two spirits, 25 yr old, a Cognac $219, and an Armagnac, $115. http://www.vintages.com/classics/cc_main.shtml Definitely not red!

Screw the red wine, go with the armagnac. That bottle's going to have some staying power (drink some at his 25th, save the rest for his 50th, 75th, and 100th :D)
It's this stuff:

I wouldn't do it for the sake of doing it. Does she love wines that require aging?
Could look at something like a port...or others that last can handle the length easily.
Still will cost a bit.

thanks for the all input, does anyone have a rough price range of what it will cost? $815 is out of my budget for sure

1987 was not a great vintage year in France, the source of most old red wines, so most of it is long gone. You may find 87's from California, Italy, Oz, or Spain but they are often very expensive, as in the Spanish Vega Sicilia, and often in a restaurant cellar, or a U.S. wine store. Try Googling 'Grange 1987', and you should find a U.S. source; they may have cheaper 87's, but you have to personally import them.
I think the 25 year old Armagnac, a prize winner, at $115 is as good as you'll get; in fact it is a bargain price, and may move off the shelf with RFD publicity.
If your gf balks at the strength of brandy, you can make a classic cocktail, the Sidecar, and begin a great evening.

ed. There is apparently one bottle left of Delord Armagnac at LCBO Queen's Quay, so that becomes a long shot.
They have a 25 year old Scotch at $125, but no vintage wine or port. I didn't check sherry, or Canadian whisky.

They have a 25 year old Scotch at $125,
Thats a pretty good blend, especially since it was listed at 200. However, blends dont really have vintage years since the whiskies used are at least that age. Not usually a drink that a lady enjoys but there are of course exceptions.
Are you looking for any 25year or something from the vintage year she was born?
