I noticed with increased usage that my screen is popping up on the left hand side. It appears to be a widespread problem. Does anyone have one without this issue? Mine was from staples.

Mine is also from staples, screen separation is minor though. Like you need to actively look for it to find it. If after a while it gets worse, I'll exchange it.

Mine had it, I ended up returning it to Visions, waiting to get another one from FS or BB when they get them later today or hopefully

Picked up one today at Best Buy.

Been using it all day and haven't had any issues with it. Does anyone have a picture/video of what the issue looks like?

Just got it exchange from bestbuy. This CS guy was telling me it was wear n tear so it will not be covered under warranty. What an idiot. If the screen get loose again I will return it for good.

Pfft. Looks like BB and FS's rep is going down day by day.

Mine doesn't have screen seperation but it doesn't feel quite as solid as I would like. Holding it regularly there is no flex or creaking but if I put some minor pressure on both sides while holding it I can feel it flex and creak a tad bit. I hope it doesn't become a problem.

No problems with screen separation here. Purchased from Canada Computers on Saturday.

According to xda members the screen separation problem can be fixed by taking off the back cover by gently prying it off and then using a Philips screwdriver to tighten the screws inside.

Yeah I'm noticing some very slight separation on mine. Not really a big deal but if it does get worse, definitely going to exchange or RMA.

Thanks for the tip, I just tried it and it worked like a charm. Only took a couple minutes. Now to see if the problem comes back....

I think mine seems to be fine? Picked it up from NCIX on Saturday. Tried pressing the top left and bottom left and no squishy sound. Seems to be in tact throughout. Phew.

Does BB/FS have stock today in stores? I'm returning mine to Staples and will re-buy it.

mine has it and i tried the xda fix. it was temporary only as it came back. i hate that the lift also causes a creaking noise.

it seems like a widespread problem and will just return mine and wait a couple of weeks and see if new shipments have fixed the problem.

Me too...I'll probably return mine as well if no permanent fix is found soon.

Yup, mine had separation + creakiness on the right side out of the box. Ordered from Staples if anyones wondering.

I've been using for the past day and beginning to really like it and disappointed that I have to return it. I have another BB order that's supposed to ship one of these days and if that has defects to then I'm just going to hold off buying one until ASUS gets their QC in gear.

Likewise. Spent a good day setting up apps. Is there a good app to do an almost complete backup/restore?

Titanium Backup. However you need to root the Nexus 7 to use.

Luckily mine had defects out the box and knowing I was going to return I never set up the tablet fully.

One of my friends received his from Google today and his Nexus 7 is in perfect shape. Lucky fellow for sure. I think the ratio for defective products is high?

Looks above average. Look at the dozen odd folks who bought these and post on these forums. Now mind you we're a picky bunch but still, lots of complaints.

I'm not sure about mine... The screen is flush to the bezel on the left and slightly under the bezel on the right... is that normal? I just opened it, no creaking yet. Is there anyone with a Nexus 7 with the screen at the same level of the bezel on both side?

There's a very small separation on my N7's left side. From the side I can see the black edge just raised above the the casing near the center. I can push it down, but after a few minutes it rises back up again. My N7 is perfect otherwise. Debating whether to exchange it at Staples or not... the replacement might be in worse condition than this one.

A user at XDA fixed his by putting the N7 in a vise (to make the screen flush with the casing) and playing Transformers to heat it up to remelt the adhesive. He believes the adhesive dried prematurely during the manufacturing process. I might try this, but with a stack of books instead since I'm a big p***y.

Well, I just found the image retention problem (http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/07/03/the-nexus-7-has-surprisingly-bad-display-ghosting-just-take-a-look-at-these-photos/)... Used chrome for 10 minutes, close all tabs and still see the tabs in background... :|

Doesn't seem like I have that problem but dang. Can you say its a wrong part on Google/Asus to a) have pushed this tablet out immediately after the Google I/O within a few weeks time frame or b) Cut cost and cheaped out on the quality?

Well, found another bad one in futureshop. Opened in the car and it went straight back to a bewildered assistant. This is a bit much. Screen totally off. Didn't even power it on.

I'm returning my original and waiting it out. Beginning to think this will be in the news a lot more in the near future.

Not to mention ruining the reputation of Asus/Google. Question is did Asus decide to cut cost or was it Google first idea. IMHO they should have waited to test out the hardware kinks.
