Hi, I'm looking to buy a T430s on lenovo.com
they have a 600-700$ OFF eCoupon offer on their website, but i don't really see any savings especially since their original price is just ridicules....
When is a good time to buy lenovo? Do they operate like dell? if they do, how come i don't see many flyers or coupon codes around the holidays...
thanks

I haven't been checking the T series lately, but there are some good deals on the G series laptops. I've just recommended a $600 G580 to a poster here not too long ago. It had a third-gen i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive. Granted, it's not a proper thinkpad, rather a cheaped-down version, but you can't argue with those specs.
The premium you pay on high-end thinkpads comes from their supposedly superior build quality. Make what you will out of it, because most people buying thinkpads don't use them to play video games or for a family friend who only browse facebook and stream videos all day.

OP, the Lenovo T-series laptops is not a consumer grade laptop. It is a corporate laptop and built and priced accordingly.
Even with at its lowest prices, it will still be expensive. But the best time to purchase is when there is RFD promo or EPP promo - you need to monitor this forum. When a good Lenovo T-series/X-series comes on, it is well discussed in this forum.

The original web price is already heavily discounted from the "regular price" (which I have never seen them sold for).
If you're looking for the T430s (and especially the 's'), I guess you know what you're looking for so I'm not sure the comments about what type of laptop it is are not that helpful.
I'm with you -- Thinkpad T-series are great laptops and the only ones I would look at (except X series).

There is also a cheaper version of the Thinkpad series called the Thinkpad Edge....not as well built as the T-series, but pretty decent IMO...at a price that is close to other consumer laptops. Picked up a E420 last summer....happy so far. There was a E420s (battery not removable to my understanding).

Any chance you can find deals on HP business line models?? If you can find deals on them they are well built too.
Thinkpad T series are really expensive, it's just the way it is. But compared to when IBM had thinkpad line, Lenovo is cheap. Like IBM Thinkpad T43p cost me almost 3k waaay back when (2006) but it's still running with original parts and battery still lasts me ~1 hour.
I would say wait a little bit, if you can, and monitor the forum like other posters mentioned. I picked up a T510 just before the T520s were coming out and saved lots of $$$.

you can go the route i've gone - looked carefully (and for extended time too) for someone who is selling his/her Thinkpad here, on Craigslist and Kijiji.
found a deal after few weeks on one with 3 years 9 months warranty, two batteries and decent specs. Met the guy, paid cash and enjoying my new Thinkpad T very much!
if you have time to watch the boards, you CAN (and WILL) find something you like!

Is the Thinkpad made in China? I would prefer Canadian-made if possible.

Most computers/parts are made in China. I would be surprised if you can find a computer part that wasn't.
