View Full Version : Nexus 7 shipping refunds

If you ordered your Nexus 7 from Google Play, you paid $19.99 for 2-day shipping.
But many (if not all) Canadian customers had whose Nexus went out this week had their packages shipped UPS Standard.

I sent e-mails yesterday and today, and didn't hear back, so I finally called tonight. I had to wait 25 minutes to speak to someone, but when I did, he was friendly and nice. Looked into it, said it was a fluke, and told me they'd issue a refund.

A $10.50 refund just appeared in my Google Wallet account. Not exactly what I'd been expecting, but I suppose it's better than nothing.
If your package was shipped UPS Standard, I recommend calling.

Now I'm just hoping that my Nexus, which left Lexington, KY, on Tuesday night and left Windsor at 8pm tonight miraculously gets delivered in Ottawa tomorrow, before the weekend. I'm not holding my breath.

Their hold music is terrible....

Ill try tonight but I dont have much time to stay on hold, will try tomorrow if I don't get through soon

Thanks. I called them and they told me to reject the shipment and I would get a full refund.

I'll be watching my CC statement very carefully.

Wouldn't do anything for me...insisted that UPS changed it to standard but that it would be here on Monday despite it saying Tuesday delivery on UPS. No refund of shipping charges said I could refuse delivery if I could find one in store and I would be refunded including shipping charges.

same with me maybe I'll call again...also thought it was funny they said "5 days is the fastest we can ship there"

Mine is on the way to my house from UPS.

will reject the delivery and see how it goes and update when I get result.

Another update. Called Google to tell them how I couldnt get a chance to reject the package.
CSR told me as long as it's not opened, simply return it to UPS store around me and they will refund everything including shipping.

damn it..... UPS dropped the box without me getting a chance to reject.....

Almost happened to me, too. I talked to the delivery guy as he was walking back to my truck.

Surprised Google would let these packages be delivered without needing a signature.

I left a note on the door as instructed by google to refuse delivery. UPS didn't even ring the door bell.
Funny how google replied to my requests for cancellation just hours after they sent the shipping confirmation.
I'll just pick one up when they're available in stores again - that way if I get one with problems, I can just return it and get a new one.

I finally got around to asking for a refund on the remaining $9.49 shipping that wasn't intially refunded. Did it by e-mail.
Got it refunded today.
To be honest, in the end I'm glad Google screwed up the shipping, because I wasn't stoked on paying an extra $20 for what was supposed to be a $200 tablet. I'm definitely happier having waited an extra week to get it but not paying the shipping.

I sent them a message under the "contact us" on the Google Play site on August 8th. A very short message and being very polite:

Hi, I placed my order on July 1st, 2012. I paid for

Received two separate emails from them from 1 a.m.

The first
Google Play has refunded $19.99 to your MASTERCARD xxx-xxx. Please note that it may take several days for the refund to appear on your billing statement.

And then 11 minutes later I received another email:

I apologize for the delay in the shipment of your package and have
processed a full refund for the cost of shipping.

We're working with our shipping provider to ensure that this doesn't occur
in the future.
