Facetime alternative on Android ?

Wonder if there is such things. I know we can use Skype, but both parties need to have skype running. With facetime as long as the other party is connected to network, you can "call" them.

Google Talk. Its built in.

Thanks for suggestions. To clarify a bit: are there any good cross platform video call apps, e.g., calling from Android to iOS users ? I guess the only way I see is both side install Skype and let it run in the background all the time.

Everyone I know uses skype because its cross platform and everyone already has it. All the platform-specific stuff sucks in my opinion, what are the odds that all your friends and family will have the same devices?

Google Talk is good but for anybody that's not on android and wants to video chat I'm not sure how you set up the video chat feature.

Tango claims that you do not need to have the apps running for two people to chat as they can "push" notice to the other side. I have not tried extensive testing but initial test seems quite positive.
