Soooo I'm debating about whether to keeps these drives or not... Does anyone have experience with these drives?
Are they crippled so bad that they won't last very long??
They "were" going to be used for weekly backups of other 2TB (non Samsung) drives...

I by some bare model hard drives. NCIX has the Hitachi I wanted for ~$110ish each. I also don't risk the warranty void issue.
BUT
I end up spending much much more..
Someone make the choice!

If you are going to use the drives as intended (weekly backups) then I don't see any need for voiding the warranty, nor any negative effects from the "crippling".

@xalex0 It'd be waaaaaaaay to slow to try and backup 2TB worth of data through USB. I was going to take em out so I can put them inside a external enclosure that has e-sata.... I'm worried about crippling feature because I keep hearing about how it likes to power down constantly... Have you had any experience with these drives?
Thanks

I don't think you will be going though 2TB every week. With incremental backups USB2.0 isn't that bad.
The drives power down when they are idle, which is not going to happen during backup operation, and after that you will disconnect them anyway.
No, I don't have this particular model.
