I needed a new PSU to run a single 7970 or 680. I dont want to overkill it or anything.

Pretty solid units...both are Seasonic if they are both modular. FSP makes the Halo 82 N series to make it somewhat confusing. Like some Seasonics, they can get noisy when at/near full load. Here are a couple of reviews:
