Warm/Hot?
Don't think this has been posted.
Costco has the KitchenAid Stand Mixer Professional 550HD model with 575W motor and 5.5QT mixer bowl for $199.99 instore.
Sale ends July 29th.
Sign shows $299.99 - $100
SKU 234492
Saw white, black, and grey. At one point I believe they also carried this model in the red color.
Edit: Went back today with a friend as she wanted one. They were sold out. The CSR did a check and mentioned that this model is being "cleared out" and the new ones they are receiving are $379.99 with some stock in a few stores already. I guess the new ones are the model 600s. Get them while you can.

I bought this mixer from Costco about 2 years ago. It was on sale for $299. For $199, I would recommend that you buy one at this price IF you need one. It is a very good mixer. The 575W motor is strong. The mixer is easy to clean. Makes my wife happy:).

At least give it a try. If it doesn't work, buy the one at $199 and return it using your receipt for the $299 one (Lost it? Costco can find it in their computer at the service desk).

+1 agree with WJ, give it a try. I bought one for $199 and seen a many on Friday, lots of colours black, silver, etc.. (includng red) at central COSTCO GTA (the one with the gas station at warden). $100 off seems like a good deal, picked up the silver/grey one.

Even I prefer the Pro 600, if the KitchenAid Stand Mixer Professional 550HD with 575W motor is realy $199.99, I would buy one. It is a great deal. I have never see the pro 550 at that price, even at Costco.

What is the difference between the 550HD and the 600? It seems that they both have the same motor (575W), only difference I see is the capacity 6qt vs 5.5 qt. Is that big of a difference?
I think the cheapest I've seen this mixer was $280ish
I've heard that the Professional model uses all metal gears as opposed to the lower end models that uses plastics gears.

Can confirm this was also at the Kelowna, BC location. There were about 20 left last night. My guess is they’re discontinuing this model as it was always $379 with coupon on for $289 in the past.

I think they're discontinuing the pro550. USA costco's have been selling the pro6000 which is a Costco-only model but has the same motor and gear train as the 7qt Williams Sonoma model.

A big thank you to zoomzoom for posting this. I almost bought the Professional 600 Kitchenaid Stand Mixer from Amazon. I just knew I should double check redflagdeals, even though I checked it yesterday. And BAM! A sweet deal comes out of nowhere. From what I can see the cheapest that any 575w mixer has ever been is $280 for the same one from Costco last November. I called Kitchenaid, and they explained to me that the gears are made of metal (stainless steel), and the gear housing was also metal. The bowl on this unit goes up and down (the top of the mixer doesn't lift up, only the bowl moves). Also the model # is KV25MCXCU for anyone that needs it. So yeah zoomzoom, you kick@$$
Also a BIG thank you to visionqueen, I almost went all the way to Markham because searching for Costco locations only brings up the nearest 5. I was under the impression that there was no queensway Etobicoke costco. So I'm really glad that visionqueen posted back.
There is one Kitchenaid 550HD Stand Mixer (black color) left in the Etobicoke (queensway) Costco. It is not where the display model is. It is near the the checkout area stacked with some portable air conditioners across from the jewlery section; it was on top of an air conditioner which is part of a stack of air conditioners (the boxes were blue), on the corner of the stack, if I remember correctly. They do have the display model, but I didn't see any hooks with it or anything. This was at noon on Tuesday.
So yeah, thanks all, you made my day.

From what I see, the two tabs with holes on the side of the bowl need to be placed on top of two metal pieces that are supposed to go through the holes and hold the bowl in place in addition to a tab on the back which is supposed to click in place. I'm juggling the bowl around now, and it feels really solid. That tab that is supposed to click into the back of the bowl is very solid. What I would suggest doing is somehow adding more pressure from the back of the bowl (the first thing that comes to mind is putting sticking folded paper behind there or gluing on a metal peice to push the back metal tab more into the bowl)

I also called, and a Costco rep said that there were none at Etobicoke (queensway) at noon, and yet when I got there, suddenly there were two. If you are close by to one, it wouldn't be too bad to double check. Don't trust their inventory system.
At the moment, there are probably none left in Etobicoke, except for the one I saw earlier (it wasn't where it was supposed to be, look a little earlier in this thread to see where it was).

I went to the Calgary NE store, the rather unpleasant CSR told me they're all sold out and they couldn't do price protection. I then called the Rocky View and Calgary NW Costco, only the NW store has it in stock. When I went to there, the CSR said "I 'll do it this time for you, but next time you need to make sure it's within 30 days." In my head I was thinking I could buy a new one and return it with the old receipt and you'll have more work to do but by this time I was just happy to get $100 back.
The moral of the story: For price protection, call the store first and make sure the item is in stock!

We did put it into those two metal slots in the side and and the clip in the back. It does feel really solid when it isn't mixing, but whenever we tossed in the noodle dough (which is fairly heavy), the momentum of the mixing would cause the bowl to pop out.
Never tried adding more pressure on the back of the bowl with paper. That might be a good suggestion for anyone looking to mix heavier doughs like bread, and noodles.
Maybe might give it another try as costco has a pretty generous return offer.

What speed were you running hte mixer the manual and KA recommends not to go higher than 2 or 3 i think... if you are going faster would explian the bowl pop up... i have used heavy dough and never had any pop up issues.

This is the same as the pro 600 model. I bought a pro 600 at sears for $299. The 600 has a bigger bowl and splash guard. 550HD is only made for costco so people can't price match to piss off retailers and you can't claim kitchenaid rebates. Waranty is also by Costco

Never tried adding more pressure on the back of the bowl with paper. That might be a good suggestion for anyone looking to mix heavier doughs like bread, and noodles.
Maybe might give it another try as costco has a pretty generous return offer.
After making my first couple of batches of dough to make bread, I know what you mean. The momentum is big that I hear a clicking noise, I have found that noise to be the dough hook hitting the sides of the bowl. That bowl really moves around, it's not stable. I clamped the part that slides up and down the mixer with my hands and the back of the mixer, and held it like that. The noise stopped (which furthers my theory of it being the the dough hook hitting the bowl, it also sounds only when the dough hook is close to the edge of the bowl, and on cue). Maybe some sort of clamp would help, that's about all I figured out so far.
the bowl doesn't snap in place for mine... i don't see any other way of putting it, you think i have a defective one?
Stand in front of the mixer, imagine it is a steering wheel. Put your hands on 10 and 2 o'clock. and push down. Make sure you have that little peg, take off that bowl, and look right where the back is supposed to touch the mixer, it should have a tab with a hole in it.

If your paddles or dough hooks are hitting the bowl, there's a screw adjustment to fix it. Instructions are in the user manual.

I stopped by the Costco today to have a look at the new model priced at $375. The model number is 550HD Plus. As far as I can tell, the only difference between the new model and the one they were clearing out at $199 is that the new model comes with 4 coated mixer attachments. The coating is white and appears baked on. The extra attachment that you get with the new model has a built in rubber scraper. Congrats to everyone who managed to get one of the clearance models.

Does anyone know of good deals on attachments for the KitchenAid mixer? My mom said the prices are going up dramatically but some stores are still reasonable. For instance she saw the pasta extruder going for $200 recently when she purchased hers for like $130 a while ago. Apparently future shop has them 50% off sometimes, but not right now. I want to play with my new toy and accessorize it :D
