Hey Everyone,

So this is my first time posting in this forum but we recently purchased a new home and are working on getting it furnished. We need everything from a dining table to sofas to beds and mattresses, coffee tables, etc. We really like the beds in Mobilia but after reading about all the horror stories from that store we aren't going to take any chances. My question is, are there are furniture stores with really good quality and modern looking stuff with good prices too?

I live in the GTA (west of Toronto) so anywhere in that area would be great!

Thanks in advance!

M.

I highly recommend educating yourself on furniture by reading myfurnitureforum.com. It's maintained by an American retailer who is a straight shooter and answers questions all the time. Having been on the furniture hunt myself for months now I can tell you that the situation in the GTA is bleak. IKEA has turned furniture into something disposable and many of the quality retailers have closed up shop (ridpaths, deboers and soon art shoppe). Mattresses are hard to shop for everywhere,
and I can't comment on case goods like coffee tables, but as for sofas, if you want something to last past 5 years, buying new
will cost you.

Cocoon in Oakville carries some great brands.
Check their clearance section. Barrymore stuff is good but overpriced. Check Kijiji for 2nd hand.
