I live in Edmonton and have a DB4e HDTV antenna, which I'd like to install in my new home's attic. I need to distribute this signal to 8 locations in the house. In preparation for this, I have asked my builder to install a conduit from the attic into the basement, where I can access all 8 of the coaxial cables. Also, when testing the antenna in my apartment building, I find I can only get 4-5 channels, so I may also need a pre-amplifier (I should mention that I get the best reception pointing the antenna towards the SW, even though tvfool says the signals are coming from the SE...then again, my apartment faces West). I'd appreciate any advice on how I should set this up -- should I get both a pre-amplifier and an amplifier splitter? If so, should I place the pre-amplifier in the attic before running the cable down to the basement, and then use the amplifier splitter to distribute? What brands/prices should I be looking into? Does the type of coaxial cable I get make any difference (impedance, quality, etc.?) -- your help is greatly appreciated!!
