Hi There,
I want to finish my basement and wondering wheres the best place to buy the materials?
Such as the wood for framing, dry wall, etc.
Do some places ship the wood for free if you buy enough of it?
Please let me know
Thanks

I just get mine from home depot. Takes some time to go through them to make sure you don't get ones that are twisted.
When you get them home and into the house, I would recommend you find a way to secure them to each other (clamps, cords, or something else.) . If you don't, they will most likely twist/bend as it acclimates to your home. Ones that were straight will no longer be the same if you let them sit loose in the basement.
I don't know of anywhere that ships for free.

Yup, this is good advice for sure, as I'm learned from that experience myself. Spent time looking for straight pieces, only to have them twist as they sat on my deck.
I've found the best way to secure them together is with ratchet straps.

There are three or four dealers advertising on Kijiji, their prices are generally ~10-15% less than HD and they deliver. Essentially you lose big box store mark-up.

I usually search in 'home renovation materials' section. Like if you do 'drywall' search - http://toronto.kijiji.ca/f-drywall-buy-and-sell-home-renovation-materials-W0QQCatIdZ727QQKeywordZdrywall - you call up some of those dealers and check if they sell lumber too, some of them do (full warehouses of building materials).

Like many have said, go to a big box store or lumber yard and select your own wood. Make sure it is straight, dry and not cracked.
Getting it delivered is just a way of them to slip in some bad wood, you never know what you are getting.

We bought our 2x4 from Home Depot since I was only working on the project on weekends and wood needs to be stored property or they'd warp.
We bought all other material (OSB plywood, drywall, screws, subfloor underlayment -- can't remember what it's called but it's the dimpled plastic) from Royal Building in Vaughn. They delivered everything down into our basement. Others we called were going to dump everything on our driveway. I recall we had to pay for shipping but it was still cheaper than Home Depot.
