Hello,
2012 corolla vs 2012 matrix which one is better?
like corolla is still the best with gas, and can save more on gas money?
i have a 2000 corolla and that car is about $40 to $50 a tank of gas...
how much will it cost for a tank of gas for corolla and matrix for 2012 model?
I heard matrix is a kid's car, what do you think?
how about the parts and maintenance? will matrix be more expensive than corolla when fixing?
and is it matrix has more room inside so it won't be as crowded as corolla?
i am not sure if the newer corolla model will have more space inside but my 2000 corolla is so crowded, what do you think?
on the side note, how much is a tank of gas for camry 2012 model?
and will the parts and maintenance be a lot more expensive then corolla 2012?

I considered a Matrix, and wound up with a Civic (and sometimes wish I would've bought a Golf, but, that's another story).
The Corolla is far quieter than a Matrix. I took a Matrix for a test drive on the highway, and was stunned at how loud it was inside. It's possible that different tires might've made for a quieter ride.
Between the two, I'd probably go for Corolla.
If you're also looking at the Camry - I found the new Camry to be really quiet and really comfortable. I probably would've bought a Camry except I didn't need quite as big a car as that.

Well, the Matrix is based on the Corolla platform, sharing most components and engines too, even in some countries it is called the Corolla Matrix.
So, they are basically the same car and I assume cause about the same to fix and uses about the same in fuel, with Matrix being slightly more due to the extra weight.
Camry will likely be more expensive to maintain and uses more fuel but probably not by a lot. Another thing you may want to consider is different on insurance too, cause you may see a big difference there between trim (engine), models and brand, especially with Toyoto vs say Honda.
I highly suggest you go to a dealer and check the size and room yourself and ask about the cost on maintenance too. They should be able to price out for you how much you are going to pay, on different models say for first 3 yrs, on regular scheduled maintenance.

I'd go with the Matrix since I just got the 2012 model + Touring Package, I chose it over the Corolla because the Matrix has more headroom (I'm 5'10) and the front seats have better thigh support and knee room is plentiful. And its more practical with the seats down the one thing I regret is I wish I have chosen the 5-Speed Manual the 4 speed auto sucks(same transmission in the Corolla) its either that or teach my arrogant sister to drive stick.

+1 and I would add if your main concern is to save on gas, don't buy a car, take public transit.

Matrix is a ugly car, imo. And the dashboard is nothing to write home with internet pictures.

I own a 2009 Matrix and really like it. Very spacious and 100,000 and no issues.

Matrix has more headroom for rear passengers, more versatility in terms of cargo hauling. Reversing is much easier for you and other drivers because you know where the rear of your car is at all times (ie. you can see the liftgate in a hatchback, but not the back of the trunk in a sedan!)
Base prices (aka Fake Prices) are lower for Corolla, but once you get everything with roughly equivalent specs, it's the same price.
Matrix is not so much of a kid's car, just the product of a younger generation which doesn't have such a heavy bias against hatches (older generations don't like to have their car associated with the wagons of old.... these days, it's more the minivan).

You heard the Matrix is a kid's car? Define "kid's car". Are you looking for a big boy car?

Matrix, unless you can't park, then get the Corolla. There is a little blurb about Corollas at the end of the article on the attached link.

+3 I would take neither, but out of the two I would go with Matrix. Simply cause it's a hatch.

Can't be much different from Corolla...
