Ok so I renewed my contract with Fido for another 2 years and I renegotiated my plan:

200 min @ per second billing (grandfathered)
2500 texts
Unl. Fido to fido
Unl. Eve and weekends starting at 7pm
Caller ID/ who called/ +voicemail
Unl. Blackberry data (Email+IM)

All for $34 per month plus HST. I get a $4 credit for CID and a $5 credit for data, plus my old $25 retention plan.

Good deal or no? I'm sceptical because of what wind and mobilicity can offer me.

You can not compare wind and mobi to Fido.... They do not have the coverage or the reliability....

agreed.....to be on a large network like rogers/fido blows away the sketchy reception of wind & mobilicity.........good plan for voice plus email & IM. others will have better but many others will have worse. be happy with it....seems pretty good!

The BlackBerry Data is $15 on its own, you're basically paying $19 for the voice package. Voicemail and caller ID is $10, 2500 Text is $5, which leaves you with $4 for the 200 minutes

Sounds like a good deal to me.

Seems pretty good (minus the blackberry part!)
I didn't even know you could get decent plans on 2 year contracts. Were you given any significant hardware discounts?

Its not bad but the 2500 text kinda kill the deal.

I've never gone over 1000 text so not really a deal breaker.

Minus the blackberry part? I don't understand.

I got a Sony Xperia U for free after fido dollars. I'll be selling that on RFD once it comes in the mail. I already have a BB Bold 9900.

I cant say you got a good deal. Under retention my plan is unlimited Canada any time no cap on minutes and text for $35 a month and $7 for call display, voice mail and all that other stuff. So 42 a month..maybe I pay a bit more, but I am not limited to my call time or minute usage. I have been with fido before Rogers took over and phoned and said " I have been with you for a long time and I still hate your company and I want a better deal on my phone or when my contract comes due I will jump ship" I also told them that they are such a pain to deal with that to pay more for better customer services is worth it. The above is what I got x 2. One for me and one for my daughter. Keep in mind I also have some extras...6gig data x 2 and unlimited North America (Canada and U.S.)for an extra $25. Seems like a lot, but I use my phone for business and home phone. at the end of the day it's much less expensive.

My suggestion; if you want a good deal, you have to push them to work for you and if you do not get what you are looking for , tell them thanks and call someone else...keep doing it till you get a Sr rep who can see past their nose and you will get set up well.

Also,DO NOT drop the "my friend got" line. They'll just give some line and say it's expired or some excuse. Use your loyalty as leverage and their crap service.

Always works for me... :-)
