Hi,
I am getting overwhelmed by looking at different types of televisions. My budget is around $500-$550 plus taxes for a 40"-42" LCD television. I just want a great picture quality for HD cable channels and bluray movies. I don't require any smart TVs features.
Please suggest some TVs that have great PQ for my budget.
Thanks

I regret selling my Panasonic, and getting a Samsung. The Samsung menu just doesn't match up to the spit and polish of the Panasonic, and that creates problems with sound and video adjustments.
THAT being said
Panasonic VIERA 42" 1080p 60Hz LCD HDTV (TCL42U5) (http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/panasonic-panasonic-viera-42-1080p-60hz-lcd-hdtv-tcl42u5-tcl42u5/10198947.aspx?path=0b881f2b548e5b52be3d513ab8d0be0 5en02) for $499.99 (on sale)

I owned a Panasonic for nearly 2 years. I only bought another TV for size upgrade.
The Panasonic I owned, was refurb, and PQ was great.
I'd say on-par with Samsung.

Go in and look at it yourself. That's the only way to really know how the PQ is to you. PQ is subjective and varies from person to person. The area your TV will be in is also different (lighting) so you can't even get a true idea of how it will look until you get it home and feed it the content you want to watch on it.

If you want picture quality, LG sells a few cheap TVs that are IPS panels. You know a TV is IPS when you can look at it from any angle and the colours don't change or distort.
