Hey guys, I was wondering what you your opinions are on which Ultrabook is the best out at the moment.
Would also be great if you could give some reasons as to why

Asus Zenbook is the best at this moment,

Interesting - especially given your recent comments (http://forums.redflagdeals.com/new-ipad-3rd-gen-asus-transformer-infinity-1191719/#post14910327) about the retina display on the new iPad...
The amount of apps available in the iPad using retina display is like what less than 5%? I would not base my choice of functionality over eye candy.
Also, the lack of user upgradeability (http://www.anandtech.com/show/5887/asus-zenbook-prime-ux21a-teardown) in the ZenBook no longer seems to be an issue with you, compared to your other recent comments (http://forums.redflagdeals.com/so-what-can-i-do-get-those-amazing-apple-experience-everyone-raving-about-1194508/#post14945405) on the retina MacBook Pro...
It is pure stupid to solder things on a main unit. Spend $2300 on MBP with Retina display and you're SOL if logic board goes. Who can support a company like that? Oh yah the iDiots ;)

The Asus Transformer Prime still has a crisper screen than that of the new iPad. I had both side by side, while the iPad had a higher res the screen on the Transformer was much better. Resolution != quality. I can still easily go outside in bright sunlight and read what is on screen on my Prime than you can do with your iPad.

I wouldn't be too happy myself if I owned a Zenbook Pro with unupgradeable memory. If it was 8GB its a different story. But you are incorrect in trying to point out where I went wrong. The $2300 MBP has GLUED in batteries and soldered RAM. I guess that's fine with you and your Apple loving reality distortion field. http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/MacBook-Pro-15-Inch-Retina-Display-Mid-2012-Teardown/9462/2

Speaking of reality distortion, the ZenBook has it's RAM soldered to the motherboard (http://www.mobiletechreview.com/notebooks/Asus-Zenbook-Prime-UX31A.htm) and the batteries are not replaceable (http://www.zdnet.com/blog/burnette/zenbook-prime-flunks-blogging-torture-test-gets-replaced-by-a-macbook-air/2656).
The Zenbook Prime [has] 4 gigs of RAM soldered to the motherboard
Neither MacBooks nor ZenBooks have replaceable batteries.

i did my research and went with the toshiba satellite z930 for the following reasons
affordable
light
thin
fast
long battery life
nice looking
the only cons are storage space(advertised 128 Gb, actual 100 because of recovery partition
and a design flaw, the front left and right edges are razor sharp, so i attached a couple of pieces of silicone ipad case to the said corners and voila, no poking

I just read this today
Ultrabook sales Falling ULTRASHORT (http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=6516)
So maybe if you wait due to such bad sales. They will be dirt cheap as they become discontinued

I would avoid toshibas, their keyboard is absolutely terrible to type on.

MacBook air. Specs suck for what you pay but build quality and design is top notch.

Current top of the line ultrabooks are:
New Asus ux31 if you want Windows
MBA if you want OSX
There's niche products like the Samsung Series 9 which isn't really an ultrabook given the price but is certainly thin enough.

MacBook air was not equipped with an IPS screen. I'd wait at least till Windows 8 is releases.

Mac air for its osx, trackpad, build quality, Warranty and support structure.
Camsung series 9 for its sexy form factor (I much prefer it over the Air), small/thin screen bezel, PLS display, resolution, and weight. It is lighter, thinner, and has a smaller footprint than the Air. The downfall is the trackpad is not really up to Apple standards, and can't dual boot osx if you are already tied into the IOS/OSX ecosystem. To get 8gb ram you must currently step up to the 15" model.
I am at odds with these two at the moment. I am tilted slightly towards the Series 9.

Curious what the Series 9 has over the Zenbook Prime.
I can't wait till more ultrabooks roll out with 1080p+ IPS displays.

There are way more accessories specifically built for the MBA than a PC if that matters to you.
MBA is definitely great since you want a ultrabook (and that means you have some standards for quality). The MBA will not disappoint if you got the cash to buy one.

Would also be great if you could give some reasons as to why
the HP Folio 13 is yet another popular 13-inch Ultrabook.
Cute : 13inch
Slim: at 18mm around the middle,
Long standby time: claiming a 9-hour battery life for the Folio 13.

That's an interesting idea. I wonder if they will eventually be able to build this type of design with a single screen viewable from both sides? I suppose backlighting would be the hurdle. And also, they'd have to have a key to flip the screen if you were showing text on the back.

The Toshiba Z835 is right now the overall best ultrabook on the market. It still has flows, but not as problematic as the ones of its competitors, and comes with an excellent price tag.
So, the Z835 is a 13.3 incher and it’s the sleekest and the lightest in its class. The light weight has to do with the plastic exterior, but even so, the matte case is solid enough, just not as classy as on the Lenovo or Asus ultrabooks.

It's not out just yet but I think it'll be released mid-August. Check out the Gigabyte U2442 series.

I just bought a Macbook air yesterday for my dad after looking at the various options, to me it seemed to have Great build quality . Many may argue it is a bit expensive and while I agree with this, Its not everyday that you buy one and if you can afford it , it's a very good option

Although an SSD is not part of Intel's "Ultrabook Branding Requirements" (http://ultrabookreviews.com/ultrabook-branding-requirements/), I think most people consider it essential to the concept.
(Here is an interesting related article: How the PC industry killed the ultrabook (http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-57404752-1/how-the-pc-industry-killed-the-ultrabook/))
