Eve Adams is my MP - she is a Conservative
I have been trying to set up a meeting with her for over three months now and no luck.
She is always busy with something or another.
Lots of photo ops for Eve.
She spends lots of time SELLING the party line -
- but I have never seen her LISTENING to her constituents.
I have gone to her constituency office and her staff is NEVER doing anything.
Three guys in office and nothing being done.
Has anyone here met their MP?
I propose an interesting crowd-sourced experiment.
I can see how much everyone likes crowd-sourced activities with scammer like Ragu and Mike Motinov
Call your MP and ask to set up a meeting.
Say you would like to meet your MP and you have some issues you would like to discuss.
Track how long it takes to meet your MP.
Tell us about your experience with your MP.
Are Liberal or NDP MPs more accessible than Conservative MPs?

I see my MP's (Jonah Schein, Provincial and Andrew Cash, Federal - both NDP) at community events all the time and out and about in our riding. I've never tried to contact them but they share an office which always seems to have staff working. I'm pretty confident that I could get ahold of them if necessary.

My Conservative MP in Oak Ridges-Markham seems to respond pretty quickly to my inquiries. Like when I complained about Canada Post rates, and the usage based billing debacle last year. He actually called me back personally regarding the UBB.
Of course he couldn't really do anything but he did "listen to my concerns".

Eve Adams also not good at her job - Did rookie MP Eve Adams spoil Harper's winning streak? (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ottawa-notebook/did-rookie-mp-eve-adams-spoil-harpers-winning-streak/article619261/)
Eve Adams appears to be bangin' a younger guy (http://blogs.ottawacitizen.com/2011/11/16/former-pmo-d-comm-and-rising-conservative-star/)
Eve Adams is 37 and Soudas is 32
Maybe that is why she don't have much time for the citizens
Seems she is dating Dmitri Soudas
Is she bangin him cause he is hot - or because of his political connections?

Are you sure they are "busy"?
From my experience in my riding - they are not busy.
Should the citizens not "test" their government representatives to ensure they are doing their job?
Should they not be accountable to us, the citizens?
I am just getting sick and tired of the hypocrisy

But why would I waste my time if I don't have a real issue? What if everyone in my riding decided to 'test' our MP, does that sound productive?
It sounds like you have a specific issue with your own MP, but I'm not going to waste my time and that of my MP for no reason.

flashy_mcflash - so there is no need for you to do anything
But - like I said in the first post - it is clearly evident that many RFDers are into the "Crowdsourced" research
and like participating in "crowd initiatives"
Is it really a waste of time meeting your MP?
The person that is paid $150k per year to represent you ...
... yet does not know who you are
If you think this is a waste of time - what kind of democracy do you believe in?

Well I have met and talked to my MP during the campaign, and as I said, I've seen him at community events and spoken to him there. I'm not sure he'd remember me but I've certainly met him. I'm just saying that setting up a meeting when you don't have a real issue is a waste of time and not a statement about democracy one way or the other.
I can absolutely see where you're coming from in your case specifically though - if you feel like your MP isn't doing her job then you should absolutely check it out for yourself, providing that you have something more substantive to bring to her than 'where you been, girl?'

Who knows if they are really busy as what I mentioned in parenthesis.
If they are really unproductive, I dont see what you should test their attentiveness which could lead to more unproductivity. There's already citizens that want to waste their time with useless, dead-end issues as it is and they need more ways to screen those people out.

Just because you request a meeting doesn't mean that they have time for that.
My MPP (provincial) is Laurel Broten and although I am far from being a Liberal, I called her office with a problem and one of her underlings got back to me, problem got dealt with and I never spoke to or dealt with Broten directly.
If you have a problem they can deal with it, if they aren't then that is an issue but to be crabby because some Conservative hater (that's what is being portrayed in your posts) doesn't want to meet with you and discuss the weather is absurd.
Because this is Federal, they also live predominantly in Ottawa and she may have a house elsewhere other than your riding.

If you had any clue and read previous things I have written you would know that I am a Conservative.
The issue is not about politics (policy)
but a question about whether our politicians are doing the job they are supposed to do.
I am surprised that people care more about being denied a PM at FS
than they are about the way their government treats them

OP you have to convince others that a meeting is needed because you have some issues. You cant just meet her and find out if she is wasting time or not. Tomorrow you will create thread about how Conservative MPS are wasting time. By meeting with people who just want to meet her/them without any reason. The best way is see if she is available in any social gathering for the ward. They do some BBQ meet or some type of social events.

Mine is Mike Colle (MPP) and was Joe Volpe (MP) now Joe Oliver (CON)... Mike has gone out of his way to meet and address issues for me regarding noise complaints (ocal bar)... but maybe because his multiple letter writing campaign (to LCBO, Police, etc...) resulted in ZERO change.... He tried yet sadly proved to be nothing but empty words as nobody seemed to care what he said or did... Volpe is a jerk who is full of himself and has some very questionable finance dealings... and can only be met if you have something to offer him.... Oliver is a little too party-line, but I have never had to meet him yet so no idea if he will or not...
btw... op.... what's with the 'brown guy' comment... You can find out who they are via this link... and their COLOR has nothing to do with this discussion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried scheduling an open hearing with other riding constituents? Perhaps if you make it an open public forum type of meeting she'll be more inclined to meet everyone. 1 on 1 meetings probably take lots of time that she could be spend doing PR.

Well you can partially blame the system for that. How important is actually reading a party's platform as opposed to just looking at the MPs (notably the party leader) and judging everything based on that?
Like it or not, politics is a PR game now and voters are partially to blame because they do not request more out of the system. Recently campaign ads in Canada actually start resembling the bashing campaign ads in the US because that gets voters interested (aka knowing why the other guy is more of an a-hole than you), not talking about actual issues and how to resolve them.
I don't remember the exact statistics, but the viewer turnout for the Federal debates for our last elections were the lowest in history (and those televised debates allow people to submit questions). People just don't seem interested in actually following politics anymore.

I think they are both a waste but I know what your getting at looking at the shopping discussion forum. Trying to go up the retail chain of command (part time employee to department head to store manager to district manager to VP to CEO) to try and elevate your stupid complaint even when the front line part time minimum wage employee said the same thing is rediculous.
