Was shopping for the new home last weekend during Sears's "Boxing Day in July" event, which offered an additional 10% off sale items; at one location, a salesperson informed us of a coupon booklet which is offered with the $24.95 purchase of a Sears Club membership (I think it involves applying for/using a Sears card for your purchase). It contains one coupon for 25% off the regular price of all furniture, and other coupons that offer up to 15% off on all non-clearance items. However, we soon found out that Sears officially revoked that 25% off coupon (with written notice) because they had recently lowered all of their regular prices, but some salespeople were still unaware of this and would honour the discount. In another case, we were able to use the 15% off coupon to further discount a Samsung un55es6500 55" LED 3D TV that was already on sale for $1799, even though the coupon clearly stated that it wasn't applicable to electronics. It depends a lot on which salesperson you get - hence the YMMV disclaimer. We are determined comparison shoppers and still ended up spending several thousands of dollars at Sears knowing we saved a bundle. Happy shopping!
