Is there a place in Toronto to report non violent racism?
An example would be youth constantly picking on elderly asians calling them *****(in Greek). (Gee Neh Zo or Gee Neh Za or Gee Neh Zee)
Talking to the parents led to nothing as the parents say the word means Chinese and is not derogatory.
One example happened recently where 3 kids (2x13-14 yr olds and 1 8 yr old).
the 8 yr old was holding a long (6ft stick) and pointing it at the old asian lady calling her ***** (or chinese as the parents state).
In a poking motion/shooting motion, the 8yr old would gesture at the older lady and laugh.
It seems like talking to the parents and other 'responsible' people does nothing.
Is there a place to report racism like this? I know it's mild but it's very annoying to witness.
At least to have it on record somewhere in case it keeps escalating or doesn't stop?

Doubt it. Toronto Police would laugh at you if you even tried to report it.
Record it on camera, post it on youtube. That is pretty much the only way to get it done. Public humiliation. Try posting the video on other forums as well.
This would be different if it were employees of a company, as you can complain to the manager or a supervisor. Students, you might try the principal if it happens at school. But that is probably as useless as calling police.

And why you don't accept this explanation? You think the parents are lying, or you are offended that they are calling other asians chinese when they might be something else like korean?

Call Barbara Hall and she will convene a tribunal and prove their rights were violated netting them a huge cash reward.

I grew up in East York and have been called Gee Neh Zo many many times.
Sure it means Chinese but I doubt it was used as a method of innocently identifying my race (even though I'm Korean).
It sure wasn't used in a friendly manner either when I was growing up in East York.

I would agree or at least say I understand what you're saying....I don't see how it's racist...
Growing up I was constantly asked what my ethnicity was - apparently I was "too dark" to be Greek or didn't look "Greek"
It's not racist - it might be "rude" but whatever - to each their own. Personally I was never offended but I can see how some people might be.

Your source is messed up - I'm Greek - Κινέζος is the Greek word for Chinese - there isn't another word for it- if there is NO ONE that I know that's Greek uses it.

True, I guess racism is very strong.
But having been on the receiving end of racism many times, I'm too sensitive.

I've lived in east york my whole life as well - still do ( haven't moved yet but I'm going to soon ) - I'm 25 years old - that doesn't make your argument valid. People of ALL ethnicities refer to each other by their ethnicity. It doesn't mean there racist or trying to offend you...
maybe you need to toughen up a little bit. Just my honest opinion. Coming from culture and ethnic background of people that were slaves for over 400 years and bullied upon because of our religion/beliefs - the last thing Greeks are IMO is racist.

I still don't see how there's any racism here. OP is obviously obsessed with race (just look at his user name) so he sees racism everywhere.

Record it and upload on Youtube. Nothing else you can do. Make sure you get their faces, and include the location in description.

Although I still don't see how it's harassment if they just say the word for chinese in their language.

Racism alone is not really a crime. The things that racism leads to often is.
You can't make mean people nice. That's what karma is for.

I think you properly summed up the problem here.
