Complaints are multiplying online about quality issues with the new Google Nexus 7 tablet, with a number of people complaining about "loose screens" which bleed light from the edges or move when touched. Some of those who have had problems say Google has been slow to respond to their concerns.

Reports of "loose screens" have begun occurring almost since the devices first arrived. Some users have complained that the touchscreen glass is slightly lifted around the edge of the device. In some cases that means that light seems to "bleed" into the display of a page, while others have said it means the screen actually moves.

Haven't noticed any problems with mine yet. I've checked for backlight bleed, and the popping up screen but I don't see to have either of those issues.

I purchased mine from Staples so its easy to return.

Sort of strange to see ASUS not paying attention to QC. Hope they do fix these ASAP as they do for their PC computers.

It's not only quality control. It's also cost cutting. You cut cost and it's a big mistake.

By the way is there an app to test the screen bleeding?

Use one of the dead pixel test apps, turn brightness to max, select screen with black background and watch the edges.

Didn't Asus have similar problems when they first introduced their original Transformer tablet quite some time ago ?

Read the article. Looks like this could again blow up in Google's face unless QC is addressed pretty quickly.

It's really no surprise that google customer support is non-existent. In my dealings with them I can reassure all that google is most definitely not geared up for customer service/support. Its really unfortunate that this is happening on likely their biggest selling product

Poor customer service seems to be endemic. It is like a race to the bottom. The screen on my N7 is far from perfect, but it is not worth the hassle to have it checked.

Since it is being manufactured by Asus, it is not surprising they are having built issues.

Happened to all their transformer series.

Yeah they should stick with making laptops.
