Is yogurt really healthy
That depends on what yougurt you're eating - Natural yogurt is healthy. The bacteria in it is very good for you. Ideally the ingredients will be milk & bacteria. The more ingredients that have been added, the less healthy it is. The 0% fat, 35 cal yogurts are not particularily healthy - In fact they are barely yogurt.
Sweeten your yogurt with some honey/agave, throw in some fruit and you have a great snack.
if your on a diet will this really helps?
If you have yogurt and fruit for a snack instead of chips or a chocolate bar - yes this will help. If you have yogurt & a chocolate bar you will still get the nutrition benefit of the yogurt but it will not help with weight loss.

Fat gain/loss has to do with calorie surplus/deficit....

Yogurt is nothing miraculous. It won't help resolve any issues you may have and will not benefit you in any way with respect to fat loss. In fact, dairy is insulinogenic so I can't imagine it being "healthy."
If it's probiotics you are after, eat fermented vegetables.

If it is strictly weight loss you are looking at, vegetables have very little calories (relatively speaking).

Quick tip for yogurt fans. If you strain regular yogurt through a cheese cloth or coffee filter, you get greek yogurt. A couple hours should do it, or leave it overnight for a cream cheese like consistency.

quick tip...if you can get yogurt to go thru a coffee filter, you should have a spot on the olympics team. sounds far harder than just buying greek yogurt instead of regular.

I googled this:

Greek Yogurt
Makes 1 cup
2 cups milk (any kind, from skim to half-and-half)
2 to 3 tablespoons plain yogurt with active cultures, room temperature
Cheesecloth
Heat milk in a medium-size saucepan over medium heat until it reaches 180 degrees, or almost boiling. (Note: An instant-read thermometer works great.)
Take the milk off the heat and place it in a glass bowl. Let cool to between 105 and 110 degrees. Stir in the plain yogurt.
Cover the bowl with a dish towel and place in an oven that is turned off but has the light on. Let the bowl sit in the oven overnight, or for 8 to 10 hours. Remove it from the oven when a custardy consistency is reached.
To make your plain yogurt Greek, place three layers of cheesecloth in a strainer over a large bowl. Place the yogurt in the cheesecloth and fold over the sides to cover completely. Place it in the refrigerator for 4 to 6 hours, or until very thick. You can discard or save the whey at the bottom. The yogurt will keep in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.

huh? the curds stay above the filter and the whey gets drained through. very easy to do. just needs time to drain. can even use a good quality paper towel lining a strainer if you don't have a coffee filter. i've done it plenty of times especially when making tzatziki. if you leave it long enough you will eventually get a "yogurt cheese".
