Hi, guys. The review below is about the Seagate external hard drive I have. In my case, I got a new one from Seagate but still the new one shows the same problem that the old one has. I decide to sell them both without sending the old one to Seagate and buy a better one since Seagate will not do anything further. So, my question is what will happen to me if I don't send the old one to Seagate? Will police come to my house arrest me? Or will Seagate sue for this? Thanks in advance.

I bought this hardrive. Works perfectly on my laptop with Windows Vista. Appears "dead" (not recognizable ) on my second laptop with Windows 7. Do your research (internet). Very common incompatibility problem with this specific hardrive. If you contact Seagate they will tell you it is a problem with your computer manufacturer and to install driver. Although my computer manufacturer did not think this was the case, I was given the link for driver installation. Nevertheless, this did not solve the problem and I am left with a useless device. Although technically still under the "warranty period" I cannot get a refund since Seagate claims there is nothing wrong with the unit.

Did you give them a CC when they sent you the replacement drive? I know that WD requires a CC for their "Advance RMA" program.

There is a asset recovery fee - price depends on the size of the hard drive.

This isnt going to end well, especially when seagate charges a premium for their drives over what you can find locally.

He should have thought of this prior to surrending to his greed.

Police are going to come and seize the hard drive along with both laptops for testing. If you enter random numbers for a CC during the RMA processor Seagate will sue you

Why do you think this is a troll thread? There's a little bit specific explanation and I just ask a simple question. You could just answer yes or no like other normal people. Don't you think your reply make you a troll?

what kind of question is this? they sent you the drive and notified you that you had to send the old one in. I would find it highly improbably that they would just give you a new drive and not expect the old one in return.

they will charge you for the replacement drive. guess what, they have your address. smooth move OP.

No police will come, this is a private matter.

They will charge your credit card.

If they cannot charge the credit card they may attempt to use a collections agency.

I'm guessing that for ~$90 they will not sue you and will likely not hire a collections agency since it isn't worth their time or money. Expect phone calls.

Didn't you read the RMA process? And terms when you apply for RMA?

Seagate will just charge you via credit card
