They used to sell the older black version of this at the B&D refurb stores for $10. Dad has one, and after using it for about 10 minutes I was ready to toss it in the trash.

Good for quick things once a year, but if you are going to do too much spend a little more and keep it forever.

Speed isn't variable but it's great for cutting various wood. Good buy. I'm now looking for the Ryobi jigsaw kit.

Spend a few more $ and get something that will last & not frustrate you.

If you must buy something cheap, then at least consider buying a CT Mastercraft (3yr. in-store warranty).

Eeeew, Black and Decker. Original price was only $20 so you can imagine how much quality went into it in the first place. Look at any serious contractor or mechanic- not a single B&D tool in their tool box. +1 on spending more and buying a better brand. I bought a Skil jigsaw for about $40 from HD when I was in university and it's still going strong more than 10 years later.

FWIW, I did recall seeing these on clearance in the GTA as well, specifically Brampton Trinity Commons.
