Does anyone have experience purchasing sports event tickets before hand in an area they're traveling to? Me and my dad will be in LA for vacation in two weeks time, and were interested in seeing a Dodgers game.

Were wondering what our best option would be in terms of finding good seats at an affordable price. Our travel agent wasn't able to assist us on this matter and we would really prefer to have the tickets before hand vs walking up and purchasing them on game day.

Did you try their website?

If not, StubHub is an option

Never been a huge fan of stubhub but they're always an option especially if you prefer to have it before hand (assuming box office is sold out)

I buy about 30 tickets a year in misc cities across North America - I buy almost exclusively on craigslist or through internet forums. That's your best way to get tickets from seasons ticket holders who just can't make the game.

The dodgers do average very high for attendance, but you'll still be able to find tickets for face or under. Best bet is a week day game against a B or C opponent.

Places to look (in order):
LA Dogers Forums (reddit, etc)
Craigslist
Ebay
Stubhub (near the bottom).

Stubhub makes the whole process ridiculously expensive - they charge you, they charge the seller, and they charge you for shipping. It's tripple dipping - I avoid them at all costs.

Because the game will not sell out, you can buy directly from the team at full price here: http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/ticketing/index.jsp?c_id=la (You can also do stadium tours as well)

Good luck

I've used stubhub for hockey tickets before. I like that there is some sense of security while purchasing the tickets through them that doesn't involve having to initiate a potentially messy paypal / credit card dispute. I know ticketmaster has a ticket exchange service but I have never used it.

Thanks for the tips guys, seems like buying directly from the team will be my best/safest option, still many affordable tickets available.

Yep, walked up to the gate and bought weekend tickets last summer. Shouldn't be a problem unless it's some premiere matchup!
