i have an old 1998 honda accord. it does not start
the radio works.
the remote entry key lock does not.
the headlights and high beams turn on but i am not sure if it is on max power.
the last time i took it to a mechanic the guy removed some rust or something from the battery.
when i turn the key all the way the car does make some noise although idk how to describe it...
when i bring the key back a notch the battery symbol and oil change lights are on among others, but not on the same pannel.

the current model number of the battery is 35-6YR from what i can tell.

The battery terminal on the right looks pretty rusty. Corrosion can hinder a battery's effectiveness. If you haven't replaced the battery in the last 6-7 years, you might want to do it regardless.
It could be battery, alternator, or starter motor.
If you can jump start it, then you can probably rule out starter motor.

Battery terminals and posts don't "rust". They corrode and form a white powder all over the post and terminal. the red you see on yours is most likely a preservative sprayed on to prevent corrosion.
Pop the caps off and see if there is any water in the battery. If down, add some, charge the battery and see how long it lasts. Chances are the battery is dying and you will need a new one soon. You can take it into a shop and have them do a charging system check. it costs about 60 or 70 bucks and it will check out your battery and you charging system and give you a report. Or, save the money and buy a new battery.

pull the battery off take it to canadian tire and get them to test it. it takes a couple minutes.
have you tried boosting it? you didnt mention anything along those lines only that its basically dead. and yes, the symptoms you mention are of a dead battery but that doesnt mean its no good. could have just left a light on.
if its the battery, get a new one and charge it.

Read the owners manual
I find that battery size is often never referenced in Owner's Manuals.
This might partly be because different battery sizes are fitted depending on different markets, trim levels (power-hungry options), etc.
Another reason could be that auto. makers don't get that excited about batteries like they do with tires and things that are performance and safety related.
Notice how they weasle out of covering the battery in their own warranty beyond 1 year in many cases. They pass it onto the battery manufacturer.
(Same with tires, but at least they take pains to specify recommended sizes, p.s.i., etc.)
For battery size, best to consult owner forums or the big Application Guide chained to the shelf at Canadian Tire, Walmart, etc.

There's a manual at CanadianTire or Walmart in the Auto battery section that should list your vehicle and the type of battery you should get.

Heres a Easy way for you to check, turn headlights on and turn the key, see if the headlight flicker, if it does you prob need to jump start it. also do you hear clicking sounds? (starter turning)

Definitely take the battery to CTC to test it, it is free where I live. If the battery tests OK then do the following.
You have to have someone to help you. Once you locate the starter and have someone turn the key while you lightly tap the starter with a tire iron or a small hammer if the car starts your starter is going... TAP it lightly though some have ceramics inside that you can crack and that would be a bad thing if it isn't the starter.

It happened to me just a few weeks ago, car's battery died, radio would turn on, car lights would also turn on but car wouldn't start. Luckily I had the booster cables in my car and got a friend to help me. After hooking up both of our cars with the cables my car started, but when I turned it off and tried to start it again with no help it wouldn't start. So I knew the battery was done went to Canadian tire and got a brand new one, i believe the warranty was 9 years.

Boost the engine with another car. If the engine cranks, your battery is dead.
If it doesn't crank, your starter is dead. Your battery might be fine.

im hoping its not the starter cause idk how i would begin to replace that myself.
i dont have another car at my disposal to try to boost it with.
when i turn on the car there is a noise. maybe its a click but im not 100% positive. it isnt dead silent though thats for sure.

Ask your neighbour to boost your car. Remember, positive to positive and negative to negative. Don't let the cable touch the group, together, or any other part of the car.
A noise can be anything unless you are mechanical inclined. It can be fuel pump, ABS pump, starter, other relays, etc.
Once you have your engine boosted, you will know for sure.
Some starters can be easily accessed. You can buy a rebuilt starter from Canadian Tire / PartSource. Once you swap with the dead starter, you can take the dead starter to Canadian Tire / PartSource for core refund. Heck, call around some local starter rebuilder garages. They might even have your starter. Always cut the middle man.....

I have a 2001 Accord, same generation as yours. 212K, bought new in 2001.
The '01 V6 came with a 550 CCA battery, I replaced it with an 875 CCA Eliminator from CDN Tire in 2001 (long story) and again in 2010.
After lasting 9 years I just went with the same thing.

it sounds like a battery, if it's a starter please don't attempt yourself, it sounds like you don't have any experience working on cars.
