View Full Version : Newegg Beware!

Newegg seems to be shipping from the USA. So it takes a verry long time to get the item to Canada, I think. I've got a item that's taking more than a week to ship to me. Talked to support and was told shipping usually takes 5 - 7 days. Tracking information also shows no clue except for info from the 20th of July. I think I have a reason to ask for my refund now without any fees + prepaid label... :D

I heard so many positive things about them before but this just stinks. What is other people's experience with them?

So they have a warehouse in Toronto??

My item was being sent from Los Angeles.

MemoryExpress free shipping is like 9000x better (got it through a price match). Ordered a day after this newegg order. They shipped it out on the same day and it came to me a day ago. They used CanadaPost Expited too!

Where the items ship from depends the stock some are in Canada some the USA. You should've noticed this when you added the item to the cart. I don't get it if you wanted the item super fast why bother buying it online go buy it locally. I don't see how this is a negative thing against Newegg it's just lack of customer knowledge on your part.

Let me guess. This is your first purchase from Newegg. You expected delivery the next day even though they never made such a commitment. And now based on your disappointment with a single experience you're trying to convince everyone that there's something wrong with them.

I'm in K-W too, I order stuff from Newegg regularly. Most of the time it takes a week or less for stuff to arrive. Sometimes it takes a few days more, especially if the package gets caught in customs over a long weekend. But generally their 5-7 days is a reasonable estimate.

Yup first time buying from them. I was expecting experience I get from other online stores where I get my items very quickly, rarely do I wait a week (usually I get it in 5 days). I just "thought" Newegg Canada meant a warehouse here in Canada somewhere instead of Newegg Canada meaning item send from the USA to Canada.

I learned my lesson though..

Don't worry about it, their shipping estimates are very easy to miss and hard to read. I can easily see how you misunderstood.

Well, when you checked out the shipping should have been your first clue. If it says "International" in brackets beside the Purolator or UPS options, that means it's coming from a location other than Canada. There are also faster shipping options that the bottom level shipping as well.

They have many warehouse locations, and unfortunately you don't know which location it will ship from (LA, New Jersey etc). International means just that though.......it's not coming from Canada. I have found that f it's a high-end video card, chances are it's coming from L.A. (pretty much guaranteed if it's an EVGA).

Shipping times can vary, like others said there are multiple depots, most in the US, 1 in CA.
I can't see how you can complain about a ship date under 2 weeks. If it was urgent you should have bought it instore or paid for priority shipping.
I've bought stuff from other Canadian online computer retailers and they take just as long with regular mail, and i never cried about it. I would say you get it early next week. 5-7 days is business days.

Everytime I've ordered something from NE (rarely, but they've had great Black Friday deals in the past), it has always shipped from their New Jersey depot. Interestingly enough, I find that shipping is faster then ordering from Memory Express.

I have to agree with most of the posts.
5-7 days IS very quick shipping. Remember this is business days not including weekends. And if you order after like 3-4pm it doesn't include the ordering day.
I consider 10 days or under to be pretty quick, but I live in Northern Ontario.

I suggest you never order from Deal Extreme, you'll have a heart attack at their shipping times ;)

You're being unreasonable. I've ordered from newegg.ca many times and delivery times were all average/normal. If you need something in a hurry, you could've paid extra for quicker shipping, but u obviously didn't and now you are complaining their cheapest delivery option is too slow?

5-7 days is not "a verry long time", I would consider that average/normal. Last year, my "in stock" order from dealextreme took 6-7 weeks to arrive....now that is slow.

It's taking more than a week... 8 days and counting...

I know about the slow deal extreme shipping. I never ever ever will ship / buy from them because of that.
It's okay... Maybe I was spoiled with the other companies :P

The takeaway from this thread is:

1. If you need it today, go to a local store and pick it up. (Phone ahead to be sure it's in stock.)
2. If you need it tomorrow order from an online store that offers overnight delivery.
3. If you need it within a week order from an online store that offers standard or ground shipping.
4. If there's no urgency then order from an offshore online store like DX.
5. Generally the faster you need it the more you'll have to pay for it, either as higher product price, higher shipping cost or both.

How come u guys still got stuffs to order from NE when N<|x or ME always beats the price?
Basically ever since NE.ca available to Canada, i have yet to order from there. Their shipping price always kills deals...
oh unless you're shopping for NE's own brand ROSSWILL?

Always? Nonsense!

Stuff that's on sale usually, but not always, includes free shipping.

I rarely buy their house brand, although sometimes it's a good deal. But more importantly, because Newegg ships from the US, they carry stuff that's not generally available in Canada. One example was a top-of-the-line Panasonic cordless phone system for ~$100 that was better and cheaper by a wide margin than lesser Panasonic models available from other retailers in Canada.

Another recent example was 2x8GB SODIMM RAM for notebooks that was on sale, even with $6 for shipping, for less than anywhere else in Canada, including all the places you mentioned.

IOW never say NEver ;)

:( It was my first time dealing with newegg
and technically, my shipping is taking more than 5-7 days time frame....

edit: Checked the tracking #.
It's in Toronto right now. So I'm getting it tomorrow probably.

What day did you order?
And how many days have passed since then?
Now subtract Saturday & Sunday, because those days do *not* count.

How many days do you have left? Is it 7 days or less?

Even if it's 8 or 9 or even 10 days, Newegg has done nothing wrong. Their "told shipping usually takes 5 - 7 days" as quoted by the OP is only an estimate, not a guarantee. Delays occur for all sorts of reasons, including weather, mechanical problems with aircraft, stock shortages, customs, holidays, etc.

A single instance of, say 10 days, proves nothing. Even FedEx sometimes fails to meet their “When it Absolutely, Positively has to be there overnight” commitment.

You obviously haven't learned a lesson because that is incorrect and the proper info is posted in the thread! They CAN ship from the USA OR CANADA. You need to READ before ordering is the lesson you should take home from this.

Yeah, always whenever they don't ship from within Canada.

Interesting. I don't recall ever getting something from Newegg that was shipped from Canada. But perhaps that's just my "luck."

Incidentally TigerDirect is similar. Most of the stuff I've bought from them has shipped from the US but a few items have come from within Canada. Same with Dell. The big stuff, like PCs, usually comes from the US but accessories often come from Canada. And in all cases with all of these vendors, HST is collected at checkout so there are no "surprises" at the door even when they use UPS as the shipper.

usually smaller items can be fulfilled by a 3rd party contractor up here because they are easily warehoused and handled. it doesn't make sense for larger or very expensive/rare/slow moving items to be fulfilled by their broker/agent. the business would rather keep those items in the states.

This makes sense to me... The order that came were hard drives and socket adapters. The socket adapters came reallly quickly but it was the hard drives that took a while.
