So a little birdie told me to spread the word to my fellow RFD members that free Coca Cola/Coke bottles will be given away on August 1st at Yonge and Dundas square. This is to celebrate the 2012 London Olympics.
Starts at 12pm and all the way to 11pm. PLUS for all you music loving fans, Down With Webster will be playing as well (time to be listed). Its absolutely free to attend. All ages! There will also be Wiis to play with, table tennis and iPads to check out the "Coca-Cola Olympic Games My Beat Maker" app.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/coca-cola-olympic-games-my/id514326970?mt=8
Free WiFi will also be provided.
Enjoy fellow RFDers.
PS its 1 Coke bottle per person. People who are handing out the bottles have the right to refuse if they catch the same person coming again or any person asking for more than 1.

This is Coca-Cola's "Move to the Beat" campaign feat. Mark Ronson and Katy B. Seen the ad on the US cable networks, but not on Canadian TV.
Mark Ronson essentially mic-ed sounds from different Olympic athletes and used those effects for the campaign song. Those sound effects are also the basis for the iPhone app in OP's link.

For this free stuff, it's very easy to line up again and get another as long as you aren't blatantly obvious about it and hide your previous bottle.
My guess is the bottles will be some sort of special collectable bottle. For the 2010 Winter Olympic event at Nathan Phillips square, they gave out these aluminum bottles and neon colour changing glowy bottles:

I don't think we'll get the light up bottles this time around. That was only given out on the Vancouver 2010 torch relay route.... and were individually numbered if I remember properly.
It's probably some version of the red metallic bottles for 2012 with the "Move to the Beat" design.

That's right. These glow ones will be given out as random prizes or something. Not too sure. The regular ones that will be given out have the Olympic branding. Sort of what you see in the bottles/cans sold at the moment.

Did some googling, and this is 1 of 2 Toronto stops on Coke's "Great Canadian Beat Bus Tour"
https://fb.movetothebeatcanada.ca/
If you check out the photos on the Western Canada stops.... this seem to be a regular plastic coke bottle giveaway

Heh, well I guess I was given wrong information. Any how, yes this is one of two stops in Toronto. The other main one is on Aug 12th and Queen and Soho.

Is there a schedule of when they will be doing the musical performances? I can't make it there until around 7pm, so hopefully that's not too late.

Free cokes are available now. There are like 6 different stands with people handing them out at Dundas Square.

Pretty lame event. The free bottles were just regular coke bottles, not even any olympic branding on it. Also they opened the bottles before handing them out to discourage hoarding, lol.

Judging by the time you posted, you weren't there for the main Down With Webster concert, which was the best part of the whole event really.
Even though they opened the bottles, that didn't really change anything because the tops could be screwed back on...

I was one of the supervisors there. Might have seen me handing out some of the coke samples lol.

Err, its not to prevent hoarding. It was one of the company policies and we had to follow it.
PS, sure it might seem to be a "pretty lame event" according to you. To others it was not a "pretty lame event". If you don't like it, then don't comment on it.
