Hey guys, I'm looking for a SSD for my laptop @ Futureshop because I have gift cards that I have to use.

I'm looking at a intel 320 series 160gb for $160 at Canada computers and plan on PM at futureshop ($290).

160@CC (http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=179_1087&item_id=037671)
290@FS
(http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/intel-intel-160gb-solid-state-drive-ssdsa2cw160g3k5-ssdsa2cw160g3k5/10207034.aspx?path=3e93a2990e9305a1ab15e18df2f653d 9en02)

Memory express (http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX33322) has it for $150 but out of stock, so I don't think FS will match.

Question is...should I bite? or wait for a crucial M4 to go on sale and get that? I know ncix had it on sale last week but I missed the opportunity and not sure when the next good sale would be.

Thanks!

Hiya,

I bought this on monday... it works great.

Be careful on your requirements... the reason why I bought the Intel 320 series was because my laptop only had SATA II. The Intel 330 series is SATA III... grab it only if it will work with your current setup.

OK, I did a little bit of reading just now about SATA III compatibility with SATA II ports... people are reporting that you only see a downgrade in speed (to SATA II). You may want to have the latest drivers to ensure compatibility.

Perhaps getting a SATA III was a better idea, but in my case I wanted something hassle free so I chose an older technology... I needed to get the SSD working asap on the same day.

I got the SSD for a similar price... the Intel 330 series deal posted by george__ above is better. If you can wait and if it is in stock then maybe you should get this instead. If you are in a tight schedule, then you will have to take what you can get.

Hope this helps.

Sata II AND Sata III are compatible with each other. So why would you waste money on a SSD that's only Sata II when a SATA III device is backwards compatible with a SATA II motherboard?

i dont' think 320 is SF, 330 is.

There was an article that said 60GB ones do not have RAISE enabled

60GB SSDs have RAISE disabled because

http://www.anandtech.com/Show/Index/5710?cPage=2&all=False&sort=0&page=1&slug=the-adata-xpg-sx900-128gb-review-maximizing-sandforce-capacity

Does anyone know what the above article means?

I have Corsair Nova SSD 32GB, but once in a while it has hard errors (From MHDD scans), and I can't do fsck on the HFS partition. I have to do a "Secure Erase" via partation magic to fix it, it needs Intel SATA controller too, the nForce SATA ones won't do secure erase for some reason
