Hey everyone,
I recently moved back to Canada from Australia so getting used to some of the differences is taking a bit of a while. But one thing I have been a bit miffed about is the ebay Canada site. In Australia and the US ebay is a pretty widely used site but in Canada it doesnt seem to be that big. Maybe it is but say for example I was looking for some computer cables or some bathroom accessories I found that most of the items are from Hong Kong or China. In the US and Australia you could do the same but a lot of products were also located in the respective countries.

Is there a similar but more popular site for doing these type of transactions? I know in New Zealand for example eBay failed horribly but a site called TradeMe is the major player for those type of transactions.

Thanks everyone!!:D

Amazon.ca or Amazon.com (Depending If the Item Is eligible to be shipped to Canada) would be something like eBay I guess.

i always order cheap cables and such from eBay. Ships from Hong Kong or China but always gets here. Just because they are sent from their respective countries doesn't mean it's not made in China. Unless you want to get it sooner. If that's the case then you're better off buying from computer stores like NCIX.

Kijiji is the best in my opinion, having moved from US recently, great stuff on it if you keep your eyes open at all times...

I don't think OP means doing local deals as through eBay you don't need to meet up at that the buyer will ship your item and what not.

shipping cost are so high in Canada no once can compete with USA and overseas sellers for low cost items by mail. You can check "canada only" on ebay to search items located here, but if there are things like cables they wont be the best price.

ebay.CA

Lately I've noticed that searching ebay.ca just gives you hits to US sellers..some won't even sell to Canada..or change 'international' fees. I'm not sure why they're posting on the .ca site in the first place....

all items on .ca have to have been made available to Canada, or they wont show up. Do the same search on .ca and com and there will be many more results on .com (all the americans who don't ship here). Of course most items on .ca aren't in Canada due to the relative population difference. You can click "Canada only" on the left and see items only located in Canada.

That might explain it. Although shipping and postage was pretty high in Australia as well. It was more just an oddity because I wasnt sure if there was better sites to check.

Thanks!

Ya, that's what I do as well. I just click Canada only mainly because I don't want the hassle of customs though :D.
