I am almost ready to do the move from cable to satellite. Financially it's better for me but I'd like to do some research first. I already checked Digitalhome forum but I'm asking here too:
1) I've heard image quality is lower at Bell than at Rogers. Bell has only 720p for HD but that wouldn't be a problem. What worries me more is that it seems that their SD is quite bad. Can anyone make a comparison?
2) Regarding the PVRs I think Bell now has 9241 but with some effort I may be able to get a 9242. Can anyone compare the 2 from Bell with the one from Rogers?

Moving to Bell from Rogers is a bad idea. Call retentions for a discount if money is the issue.

Andy you won't get a 9242 - they're all gone unless you know someone.

I prefer the programming on Bell over Rogers.

There is nothing wrong with their Standard Definition programming

As for the PVR, I suggest you just get a HD Receiver (6131) and plug in an external hard drive.

It is not as elegant as the PVR models. But it works and it is considerably cheaper to buy ($99 on promo)

I will call retentions but I doubt they will come close. It's about half the price at Bell for much more programming than now with Rogers.

I switched to Bell Sat recently from Rogers Cable. Ended up paying more but this was a vendetta driven switch rather than a fiscal one. HD quality on satellite I prefer on Bell. SD not so much. I have the Bell PVR. Works ok for what it's supposed to do.
