the main point is, there's a set shipping fee of 35 AUD per order, so we can all split the difference.

the coin is set for 100 AUD.


if you want to be a part of my order. I do require a refundable 20 dollars asap (if for some reason the order failed, I will be more than happy to return it).

Ideally if you can pay in full after the order is place, it would help with my carrying cost on CC. :)

this will go 2 ways....

1... everything goes normal and we order on 6th (which seems to be the delay date)

2... I have joined force with whatchamacallit (who had dealt with people here before as well as extensive ebay history). He is currently receiving dealership status from RAM and said can guarantee the availability of the coins. Furthermore, he can even get us a discount (not sure how much, but we will see).

To me that seems pretty *****, so I think most of you in Ontario are better off doing your own group buy.
At the end of the day You'll probably save a $1/coin if I am able to convince them to offer me free shipping.
The number of coins I'm ordering too has fallen drastically due to the almost useless discount, so perhaps you all are better off trying to reach the 50 coin requirement.

How is it that RAM and Perth are run by the same guy, but Perth ships Canada Post and FEDEX, and RAM will only ship UPS?

Since many are interested in the messages I sent KoW and the process I used, I am posting them below for everyone to read (irrelevant words redacted):

EMAIL 1:

Hey
Not very hard to clear yourself.
But this is the biggest issue, your package is MORE than $1600CAD, therefore I don't think you can clear it yourself.

I followed the steps here:

Ignoring that the parcel has to be less than $1600, its pretty easy.

Steps:
1) Let UPS try to deliver the package.
2) They will ask for a C.O.D. fee while delivering
3) Refuse the package, tell them to take it back to the warehouse and hold it for you there while you "self-clear" it yourself. (Ensure they give you the UPS tracking number thats on the package - you will not have it until this point).
4) Call UPS.
5) Ask them for the shipping invoice or commercial invoice associated with the package.
6) They will email this to you.
7) Take this invoice, take other proof that the coin is legal tender of Australia (it being silver does not mean anything to CBSA), take Govt. ID and the tax invoice RAM had sent you earlier on, and go to a local CBSA office.
8) Tell the CBSA this is a Legal tender coin with Tarrif code: 7118900099 and with GST Exempt code 49 (basically and legal tender coin of that country is GST exempt)
9) They will clear it for you for $0.00 (no duties or taxes applicable).

The problem is that as far as I know, you can only self-clear if its less than $1600 CAD.

Therefore, my only suggestion is to get RAM to either declare it as Tarrif 7118900099 and GST Exempt code 49 BOLDLY on the invoice itself, repeatedly on every line and every section possible, or TO CANCEL YOUR ORDER AND NOT SHIP THE PACKAGE AT ALL - UPS IS GOING TO SCREW YOU, AND YOU'RE GOING TO END UP WITH 25 FRUSTRATED CUSTOMERS.
Or ask them to ship via Australian Post like every other mint does.
RAM is a bunch of ***** - thats my conclusion from the whole experience.
Im sorry, but I think you are royally screwed because RAM is choosing to ship via a private courier rather than a Govt. postage service.
Them combined with UPS are going to royally make you pay.
The reason UPS was asking me to pay $60.95 for the parcel was because of their stupid brokerage fees, and also because they incorrectly thought it was metal samples rather than legal tender.
If you're buying 50 coins, thats $5000, and at 13% HST that is $650 in fees (not including UPS brokerage fees) all because RAM will incorrectly identify it, UPS will incorrectly identify it, and you're going to get screwed.

EMAIL 2:

Sorry bud, not sure what to say.
Other option I can think of split orders into $1500 CAD chunks (not 1500AUD chuncks as that puts it over 1600CAD) and self-clear each package.
No other way I can think of.
Or not get insurance. Big risk, but how often to parcels with tracking get lost really?

The issue is that once UPS classifies it wrongly, there is absolutely no way to get them to change the classification UNLESS you choose to clear it yourself.
But from what I have read, the only way to clear yourself is IF its below $1600.
Perhaps there is a way for packages greater than $1600, but it isnt the norm and thus won't be as straight forward.

Here is my experience with Fed-ex
- Apmex order was 2400USD
- Labeled _correctly_ as PM.
- Fed-ex brokerage called me and had me fill out a form to clear the package for me.
- I confirmed with Fed-ex that there was no brokerage fees.
- Package was received without duties or brokerage.

It is my understanding if there is no duties or taxes, there should also be no brokerage fees. Can anyone confirm this?

Hey KoW, just saw the updates. I don't feel it is fair for you to bare the $80 loss, and would prefer if everyone would cover it.

For my refund please deduct any loss you may have incurred due to forex for my coin. I sent over $115 I think.
