Is anyone else somewhat annoyed that it's almost impossible to get a deal on a USED Apple product? I wanted an iPhone, so I bought one used only to find out it had a huge crack on the face of the screen. I saved $15. I'm looking at a Mac Mini and see that they want MORE than what they are worth new?

Really, what gives?

The market is simply unaccustomed to quality products.

You didn't see the crack before buying?

If you want to buy used, might as well get it from apple refurb store. It is not much savings, but at least the products come with full warranty.

No, unfortunately he took the picture of it at "just the right angle" so that bidders wouldn't notice. He mentioned in the ad that there was a "scratch" on the screen.

depends where you're looking. craiglist? forget about it. kijiji, just as bad. RFD, somewhat of a joke too.

When I sold an iphone 3GS I had a small bidding war going on and ended up selling for $40 over asking. Buyers drive the price

Simple answer. Buy LOCALLY. Don't use eBay for expensive items. Done.

Go to ehMac.ca. Post a wanted ad there. Buy from someone who's been there a very long time/lots of sales/posts. Same thing for Redflagdeals. There are lots of deals to be had on used Apple items in the Classifieds Right HERE on RFD. Buy from people with feedback and check them out thoroughly and check out and test the item you are buying.

Stay the heck away from eBay...

Don't buy refurbished online unless from a retail store which comes with return policy.
Deal locally If possible so you can examine the phone how much you like!

No, my bother has also bought an used iPhone recently. And it is good in condition even none can be able to get that it is used one. The all you needed was to check your iPhone properly before buying.

Never had an issue buying or selling apple products (or any other high brand electronic brands tbh)
But yes, I recommend doing it locally and thoroughly checking your product, just as you would do with a new product you should do with used.

I've only bought and sold really expensive items on ebay once or twice but never had an issue either. So OP, I would not say its impossible to get a deal on USED apple products. Just have to know what you're doing.
