A friend sent me a package from the US and gave me a tracking number for it. Nothing has been updated for a couple of days so I'm wondering what that means? I'm assuming that once it leaves USPS, it can no longer be tracked (because it would then be turned over to Canada Post) but I'm not sure. I've never had a tracking number for something outside of Canada before so I don't know if it says when it's going through customs or whatnot. Any help would be great - and I realize this is probably common sense but I just want to be sure.
Here is what the tracking info says:

If it was sent USPS Priority, it will be trackable on the Canada Post site, but you'll only get prompt updates from CP once it is over the border. First class mail does not allow tracking in Canada, as far as I'm aware. You should expect it to take 4-10 business days to reach you.

Okay, so is the last update (Depart USPS Sort Facility) the last thing I should expect to see then? No point checking it again?

Mostly it will be close to 10 days to 12 days if your lucky. I've had a package from mi to ont take 12 days and another one come monday will be the 11 day mark. It's Small letter size mail btw.

That's not so bad, thank you. I don't know what size my package is - it is a birthday present (my birthday is on the 5th, I expect it will be late anyway but that's okay).

To upgrade on shipping is fairly expensive. My motorcycle gloves in a regular bubble mailer took 12 days and was $11 to ship vs the next one up which would've been 5-7 days and $35 to ship. Imo it wasn't worth the extra $24us to ship.

I recently got a package shipped from LA to Toronto and it took 4 business days. Was the fastest I've seen....
This is with USPS Priority. Don't think first class mail's tracking is as detailed. This info also shows up on Canada Post's tracking.

That is so much more detailed than mine. I guess I won't find anything out until they come to deliver it then which is okay.

If it's something you don't need right away, the price difference is very not worth it. I'm fine with waiting because my friend was very nice to just send me a present in the first place, but even if I was buying something I wouldn't want to pay more for a few days/a week difference unless it was an emergency to have it.
