Hey all,

We have a OfficeJet J4580 All in one printer from HP.

Replaced the black ink cartridge with a brand new one bought from staples. Printer is not recognizing it.

If i put in the old one it seems compatible, but the new one, same model, brand, number etc is not compatible.

Anything else I can try, besides doing resets, reclean the linings, etc?

Paid 20 bucks for it but does not work

Can you take it back to Staples and exchange it? My old printer was an HP...the ink was insanely expensive ($150 for the black/colour jumbo packs at Costco). I tried using a refilled cartridge once and it worked on the first page and then locked up. I think that's what happened...maybe HP is getting more sophisticated about their chips in the printer cartridges. I now have a Brother printer that uses $5 cartridges (individual colours)...I will never own another HP. Hope you get it sorted out!
