Hi everyone,

Can anyone comment on the Lenovo IdeaPad U410 Link (http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/lenovo-lenovo-ideapad-u410-14-ultrabook-featuring-intel-core-i5-3317u-processor-blue-u410/10208182.aspx?path=0093938c9c323f88a8eeb76211da6f1 fen02)

I've looked at some of the reviews, but its very limited. Also, how does a four cell battery hold 8-9 hours of charge? When I went instore, the guy said it was a 7 cell battery (shown on the computer specs screen)...

What other laptops would you recommend, around a 14" screen, Core i5 ivy bridge processor, that isn't too heavy?

Thanks.

I bought this ultrabook about 2 weeks ago and I'm loving it!

In fact i'm writing this post from it. :D I bought the U410, I like the 14" size, I think its perfect.
I bought mine at Bestbuy and i got it in red, super sleek and very good looking. The specs on this laptop are absolutely amazing for the price ur paying. 8 gigs of ram, 500 gig harddrive plus 25 gig SSD which makes booting up a breeze. It also comes with an NVIDIA 610 graphics card as well as a Intel 4000, this is really awesome because you can play some powerful games with solid framerate. I played Just Cause 2 the other day without a hitch! The battery life isn't as good as I thought, it can do 4-5 hours but not the 9 hours as advertised.

All in all a fantastic purchase and I highly recommend it !

The Lenovo IdeaPad U410 comes with a 4-cell battery. This small battery will probably just give you about 4 hours of average use. A larger 6-cell battery would give you about 6-7 hours and a 9-cell battery about 8-9. It all depends on which programs you run and the screen brightness settings.

I suggest you get a Dell laptop and maybe wait for a good deal to come up. As Dell is currently having a "Days of Dell Event (http://forums.redflagdeals.com/dell-day-6-deals-jvc-gz-e200-hd-camcorder-199-99-canon-powershot-d20-299-99-a-1208041/)" in which new deals are revealed everyday for 12 days. But note, these deals only last for 24-hours.
Check their online store and choose a laptop with a battery that's large enough for your needs.

Have you had a chance to open it up yet? I mean, I don't think you would need to, but I have an SSD that I want to put in to replace the regular hard drive. Do you know if the regular hard drive and SSD are separate? As for the nVidia 610 and Intel 4000, does that mean it has switchable graphics? What are your system settings to pull 4-5 hours? If that continuous use? Thanks! Sorry for all the questions, but I can't find much on the internet about it! :)

Can you suggest which series I should get? I had a Dell Latitude back in the day (like way back), and they were decent, but couldn't stand up to ThinkPad quality for a business line.

I think u can replace the regular harddrive, haven't tried to. And yes the two harddrives are seperate, the 25 gigs of SSD are used solely for the OS. Yes, the graphics are switcheable and its very customizable. Whenever you play a game, the laptop automatically switches to the Nvidia 610 and then back to the intel. You can also choose to switch them around any time you wish with the built in taskbar graphics app. I don't know what you mean by system settings, I just run the battery on the balanced power setting and yes for the most part I'll be on for 2-3 hours and then just make the laptop go to sleep.

Hope this helps, and fire away any more questions you might have.

You can check Dell XPS 14z Intel Core i5 2.5GHz 14" LED-Backlit Widescreen Notebook. With its brushed metal exterior, the 4.4-lb. Dell XPS 14z looks like something you'd find at the Apple Store.

I went and checked it out in store and saw that the OS was on the 500 GB, not the SSD. I couldn't find the place to switch the graphics from Intel to Nvidia, although I do see that there are 2 control panels for the 2 GPUs. Do you know if I can switch them with the laptop on, or do I have to restart to switch the GPUs? How do you find the speakers?

Thanks
