Yes. This is another thread of this topic. I'll try to keep it compact since most of my worries are answered in other threads such as the hassle of 1 week of no internet (most likey)

Q.1 My current modem is old and isn't compatiable with Teksavy so should I buy one from Teksavy or should I just get one from other means such as retail since I heard teksavy modem were bad. (True?)

Q.2 How long would it be that i won't have internet?

Q.3 If they are still delaying, what should I do? Call teksavy or Rogers and say what?

Q1. It depends, If you save more buying retail then why not as long as It's compatible with Teksavvy, They have a list of compatible modems on their site so check that out first. As for Teksavvy's modems being crappy I don't think you can blame Teksavvy as the modems aren't made from them but from the modem manufacturer's of course! Mine has been fine for the most part since I wouldn't know how to recognize If a modem Is bad or not.

Q2. Depends how you schedule It, Usually you call Rogers first and schedule a cancellation date, You'll have to give them 30 days notice so during the week that Rogers Is going to be cancelled once and for all Is where you call Teksavvy and book an appointment on that very same week. That way If Teksavvy can't get you their internet working on the same day that you are covered still and can use Rogers' internet In the mean time. This method Is to maximize your $ by ending Rogers service and starting Teksavvy's service. Of course you can get Teksavvy started right away and have two internet's overlap each other but that would be kind of a waste!

Q3. Delaying what? Go onto the Teksavvy site and check the "Postal Code Checker" for service In your area before deciding to switch because how can you switch when they don't even have service!?

By delaying i mean when rogers just stalls when they have to get the modem serial code out of their data base and they tend to make it as long as possible since you're quitting their service.
Does rogers still have to get the modem out of their database even if i'm not using that modem for teksavy?

It should be all said and done by the cancellation date. I had Rogers/Teksavvy service overlapping for like maybe a week or two, The Teksavvy technician which was a Rogers technician came In for like 5 minutes, Changed something outside and tested my line to see how good the line/connection Is.

Yes I think so but I'm not to sure about that specifically..

Just call up Teksavvy and tell them that you are making the transition from Rogers to Teksavvy and what Is the step process, Pretty sure they get asked that many times from customers that are coming from other ISP companies. They should know everything and the steps and what not.

But like I said, If Teksavvy Isn't able to activate/install their service on the day they come then Rogers' internet service will still be there.

Just finished the switch to Teksavvy myself - completely seamless / no issues or service interruptions.

Not sure where you're getting the idea that Teksavvy modems are crap - they're the same ones Rogers uses and requires - since it's Rogers' infrastructure they call the shots on modem compatability - not Teksavvy.

If you already have Rogers cable then there should be no need for anyone to come into your house.

When you sign up for Teksavvy you have to give them your Rogers cancellation date so, regardless, you have to contact Rogers first and get that date.
Note that you are required to provide 30-days notice to Rogers so if you have not done that yet you won't be able to get Teksavvy for at least another 30 days.
From what I can tell and what others are saying, you can no longer overlap service - who knows for sure.

My switchover date was a Sunday so, on that morning, I swapped in my new modem and everything just worked - as has been the case for everyone I know who has made the switch.

Good luck.

Does some guy got to come to my place to set anything up? OR do I just connnect my the new modem after they cancelled it?

Teksavvy comes and activates their line and checks your connection quality and what not. At least that's what they did for me.

Any idea on what modem I should get? From TS and stores?

All I can say is nobody came to my house and the same is true for all my friends who went this route as well.

Even when signing up for Teksavvy, the WWW site and customer service representative was explicit that nobody will need to come to your home.
There is no need for anyone to come and qualify the line - you already have service from Rogers.

Not sure why I and Jimboski have different experiences - probably has to do with the way you order the service.
If you order as a new service then I can see Teksavvy (really Rogers) needing to qualify a new line - perhaps this is the way you can overlap.
If transferring a service then no way does a technician need to enter the house or do any work.

I believe in the past, you could order a new activation with an existing service - hence the need for technician visit - but not so sure that is possible anymore.

I would just take the DCM476 from Teksavvy - you'll need it if you want the high-speed 28/1 service.
If you buy from Teksavvy, the $20 activation fee is waived otherwise you're on the hook for another $20.

Just go on the WWW site, order a transfer, select a DCM476, enter your Rogers cancellation date and you're done :D

All details here (http://teksavvy.com/en/res-internet.asp#cable).

Last question i think. Does Teksavy offer bandwidth usage checker? I know for Rogers, you can log on and can check your daily and monthly bandwidth usage. Is such feature avaliable for teksavy cable internet?

For example for me.

07-2012 shows
Total total usage to be ---> 671.03 GB (my router value is pretty close to it, so I think it's accurate info)

But it only has options for 3 months

No it doesn't show weekly or anything less than a month? That's rather dissapointing. I usually end up going overboard with bandwidth and I don't want to go the unlimited version
