I am seeing something odd today. Just set up a 24 inch 16:9 monitor (1920x1080) and. 23 inch 16:9 monitor (1920x1080). Viewing the same web page, the 23 inch actually can see more (height wise) of the web page. Why is that?

You're imagining it
If the resolution is the same on both monitors. You should see the same thing.
Try swapping the cables. Do you see more on the 24" now?
Unless your browser has the status bar on one and not the other, I don't see how it is possible.

Same resolution = same thing.

That is what I am thinking. Same res = same size. But it is definitely not. I am screen capturing and comparing it inside Photoshop and the 23 inch is showing more of the web page using the same browser set to 100%. One is using DVI and the other using VGA. I do see Win 7 is reporting 24 inch = 1 and 23 inch =2 but the nvidia control panel is showing the opposite. Maybe something got mixed up?

What's the resolution of the two captures in PS? Are you sure the task bar is not affecting the maximized window size on monitor 1? On a default dual monitor setup where the task bar is not hidden, a typical maximized window on monitor 1 with be shorter due to the task bar.

Let's try a couple more things ...
Are they showing same number of rows and columns ?
Are they both running at the native 1920 x 1080 ? Not 1920 x 1200 (ie. Dell UltraSharp U2412M) ?

You're sure the 23" isn't 1920x1200 or 2048x1152? Other than resolution, it would have to do with text size or zoom level.

First time I head something like this. Maybe its your imagination on your the only one thinking of the size. Check the resolution of both.

+1 it is got to be the taskbar. Also try "fullscreen" mode (F11 on most browser) and see if they are the same.

Measure the 23" and the 24" vertically. Depending on if the 24" is widescreen or not, the height can be less, even though diagonally it's an extra inch.

OP already said both monitors were same aspect ratio and same resolution. No point in doing this.
I agree with the taskbar theory.

I agree with the taskbar theory.
But if the 24 is widescreen, even though they have the same resolution, because the height is a bit shorter, you will see less.
I had it myself, and got a non-widescreen.

There might be some confusion between physical height vs pixel height. Two monitors with the same resolution will display the same amount of detail, but of course on the bigger screen the everything is bigger because it is scaled up.
Now if this is not what you are referring to then you got to be smoking something because that's not how resolution work.
And if OP want to prove a point, just post the screenshots.

The only way the 24 would be 'less' in terms of height would be if the 23 inch was 16x10, and not 16x9 (barring any big differences in pixel sizes). OP needs to sort a few things out, as nothing is making any sense.
Plain an simple, if both are the exact same resolution then both WILL display the same information on screen.
