I'm looking into the possibility of either Rogers or Bell "hub" options for internet in a rural location.
Anyone know if there is a mechanism in place for either system to pre-test usable signal strength?
Can either unit be purchased/tested and returned if unacceptable?
I am also aware of the external antenna options if marginal.
I'm assuming regular cel phones could be used for comparative testing of signal strength.
I have access to android based phones on both systems, but the phones have no data plans.
Would the signal strength indicate properly regardless, or would proper APNs need to be entered in order to indicate strength associated with data?
I assume I'm looking for a 3G indicator as well as a reasonable strength.
Is there an android app which is a better indicator than the default phone bar graph?
