I think it's pretty cool that Rob Ford is so obliviously happy to meet two actors that are promoting a movie about two total idiots that run for political office.

I agree
I do not mind if someone is funny. it's much worse if someone is not funny and an idiot

lots of competition there, with all the mayors we have here in Toronto. He's also the smartest mayor named Rob Ford.

Interesting, for once rob ford won't be the least funny guy in the room ;)

I hate that over rated no talent slob Galifanakis.

Is that how you really see it?

I think both sides have been resilient, and unyielding. Much to the detriment of taxpayers.

I disagree on Galifianakis. have you seen him on SNL?

Ford has no power. he is like another councillor. it's hard to talk about both sides if the majority is lefty

Hmm... Exactly. I wonder does he see that connection. I always thought mayors have some sort of PR consultants?

Probably. I have never seen him in anything memorable, remarkable, or funny.
never got the hype of The Hangover movies. And his standup sucks on levels once believed that only Dane Cook could reach.

if they do, it shoudl be out of their own pockets, not the taxpayers. why should we pay so some smarmy mayor with his/her hands caught in the cookie jar can weasel away with the help of a spin doctor?

relax...most mayors do this kind of nonsense sometimes b/c they think they're making a connection ot the public, but...some even do it to line their own pockets...Remember, NOOOOOOOOBODY! Toronto fools were happy to keep that lying, stupid idiot in office (more of a crooked mascot than a mayor really) in spite of his shenanigans that make Ford look about as interesting as....Zach Galifaniakis ;)

I liked Galifanakis a lot on Bored To Death but otherwise don't really have much use for him. He's basically the poor man's Nick Offerman.

lol

didnt see that one.
ya, Offerman I kind of like. he doesnt take himself as seriously as ZG.

the clumsy dumb fat slob character has been too played out over the years for me. Comes across as too slapstick now. and ZG just hasnt done anything creative or intelligent with it in anythign Ive seen him in.

I agree about most sentiments on Zach. But I thought it would have been too easy for Will Ferrell having Zach and Rob Ford in the same room. Someone must have told Will that Rob is a bit too sensitive. Instead, Will decides to make jokes about the media. Boring.

I dunno...It could also be that Will doesnt follow Toronto politics much, and I wouldnt expect him to. Or just maybe treated him with the same kind of respect he d treat any big city mayor with.
I wouldnt expect any comedian at a PR opportunity to for example, make fun of Washingtons coke head mayor (when he as in office), for example.
You respect the position, not the man. Like Ford or not, if n outsider insulted Torontos mayor, many would construe that as an insult to Toronto itself. So not a safe/smart thing to do, career wise.

but most of the time Ive seen Will Ferrell in candid, unscripted stuff, he hasnt seemed very funny to me...kind of forced.
as if hes a quiet guy when the cameras arent rolling. Not nearly as good as when hes working from a script.
I think he may be more of a comedic actor than a true comedian.

Well it seems to me that the whole reason he's doing this is to promote his movie, which is a political satire. You'd think he'd at least reference Ford's rep or something, otherwise I have no idea why they'd bother.

And I'm 90% sure I've seen Rudy Giuliani and Bloomberg spoofed on and parodied (sometimes even joining in themselves) on SNL and other NYC-based shows.

true but thats a littl bit different than doing it onsite at a PR moment with the Mayor present. I dont think theres very many examples of that.
the context is just different, from being on a comedy tv show. esp since I guaranttee when they make a comedy show appearance they screen/censor just about every thing thats said about them. So if you can find me a clip of Jay Leno making fun of Obamas big ugly ears to his face on his show, I'd love to see it :) it just comes across as mean spirited when its done to their face.

But i agree, I have no idea why they bothered with this event either or any tie in to Torontos mayor.

strange there was no political jokes. he probably did not want to do that in front of Rob

stealth, flashy, you both make good points.
Maybe this movie will be as disappointing as their campaign tour. I'll probably still watch it.

btw, I just noticed while watching a video of the event that Rob Ford looks eerily similar to Phil Kessel.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Jon Stewart make fun of Obama to his face, but Obama seems fairly self-depricating (not quite so much as Bush Jr though, or Clinton) in those types of situations. Nenshi strikes me as having a similar image too. I think it just comes down to having a sense of humour about yourself, which Ford (IMO, understandably) seems to lack. Some of the very personal stuff levied against Ford, and I'm guilty of doing it myself, is pretty mean-spirited.

ZG always carries the homeless/hippy look.. i bet he was baked while riding the zamboni. i like his humour because its more of the awkward/odd things he says but i watched one of his stand up performances and it was like a trainwreck. HAD to be on multiple things! the guy stared off into distances, long moments of utter silence, his eyes were so red..lol. i didnt find it that funny but kept watching to see what'll happen next.
